Does birth control have any side effects?

Im not planning to go on it, not planning to "not" go on it either, just a little curious. Might help in my future decisions

there are a few different types of birth control pills available, and each can have a slightly different range of POSSIBLE side effects

the one thing you should always consider that side effects that are indicated by your OBGYN, are always a possibility, so they might not affect you much or not at all... but it might affect others, so...

Talk to a doctor! Some positive side-effects of hormone based contraception can be reduced acne, less painful periods, and fewer pregnancies. Barrier methods don't have any, but you have to be careful to use them properly.

Well most girls get craving and it makes them gain weight. Taking birth control also increases you rate of having cervical cancer. If your acne clears up the moment you get on it, you'll most likely have the worst inflamed hormonal acne flare up ever if you stop taking it. This isn’t the case for everyone though.

A lot, tbh... on my pills, the list is long.

But most of them were noted in less than 1% of women. I decided because my cramps during the period were killing me. It looks like I was lucky :D until now no cramps and no side effects... lol :D

All I can say is, every one of my girlfriends and my wife were on the pill and they never mentioned side effects. And I can attest to the fact that their bodies functioned normally.
Plus, I have came inside women well over 5000 times with never a single pregnancy scare.

Everything has side effects. However the use outweighs the side effects. People can say just use a condom instead but condoms also have a chance to not work.
Both have chances to go wrong but in most cases they work so we use them.

So just take them if you need to, worry about the side effects afterwards is all one can do really. And in most cases you won't have to worry.

My cousin was age 14 when she went on the Depo Shot that she got every 3 months, but you got to be on your menstrual cycle when you go on it. The only side is weight gain if you choose to be on a poor diet. Then that is what happens. Other than that, it worked for her. My late mom was her guardian who got her put on it since she started dated.

Generally speaking, yes. I'm sure some types have more side effects than others, like the pill has more side effects than an IUD. And when it comes to the pill, side effects will even vary by brand as well as affect each individual person differently (your doctor should help you find a brand whose side effects affect you minimally).
