Trending & News Far more women are diagnosed with most mental health issues than men (although ASPD and narcissism are more common in men than in women). But I think just because more women are diagnosed, doesn't necessarily mean more women are mentally ill. Men are taught to handle things on their own, not express sensitivity and vulnerable emotions, not ask for help, always act tough. All those things are going to greatly discourage men from ever seeking help for their problems or even admitting they might have one. That could contribute a lot to less men being diagnosed, if less men are seeing doctors about their mental health because they're more ashamed of it than women generally are.
Actually narcism I've heard is far more common in women. Society overlooks this because much of what they do is to be expected. This is so much so expected of men.
Same with ASPD.
Well I dunno where you've heard this. A single Google search says otherwise.
Yes I know. It has not been researched thoroughly amongst genders enough to make a conclusion.
I had a professor who used to work at a homeless shelter for men and he always talks about how men do not get enough attention when they have mental health problems. I'm not a psychiatrist who talks to mental patients all day long and I have no idea which gender is more likely to have mental illness but I believe that gender differences do not make one inherently more or less likely to develop mental health issues. I do believe gender differences might affect the way that mental illness manifests and the type it takes on. One gender might struggle more with anxiety and another gender might struggle more with body image.
Research has shown more women than men are mentally ill
I’d probably say men and my reason for that is there are probably more women registered with mental health issues but probably more unregistered men with mental health issues as men mostly try to deal with it on their own or in house and will usually suffer in silence.
More women will likely be registered for mental health issues, but it is believed far more men actually suffer in silence, the silence usually ended by the crack of a rope or pistol.

The incidence of mental illness is probably equal between the two genders. Guys generally will not admit it.
