With COVID and other flu and respiratory illness' that are so contagious plus 8 million people that came from 120 different countries, we are bound to catch some illness'. Even one's we've never seen in America.

Business' normally give 5 days off a year for sick days. And if your child or family member is real sick and hospitalized, they have to give you (paid) leave because of the Family Leave Act.

I've had to use the Family Leave Act when my son was hospitalized for 76 days for a serious illness.

Back then I didn't get off with pay, but I think they gave changed the laws and you do get paid under The Family Leave Act.

That's why in Germany, we call a doctor to get a doctor's note. It's sent to the insurance, and the company can request it :D

It sounds like a place I used to work. There was no defined sick day policy. The owner just did that if you got sick you could stay home. If you did happen to get sick and stay home he gave you shit for it the next day. I wanted to have a day off to be present when my son was born. He told me that when he had kids he dropped his wife off at the hospital and went to see her after work.

It's funny because any job that genuinely has that policy is the same kind of company who would deduct points from you for not having a doctors note.

Those are kinds of policy's are stupid and made by management people who do none of the dirty work and sit in their offices where the rules everyone else has to follow don't apply to them.

Terrible policy.

If you are sick at work, you are far less productive until you get better.

If you work while you are sick, you are not getting better, as getting better requires rest.

If you go to work while you are sick, your colleagues might get sick too. That would drop productivity even further.

So any company would do good to tell you to stay at home and rest, in order to get better soon, as that will benefit both the employee and the company the best.

What do I think? I think if your ceo makes 500k a year base salary than I think you can afford to pay me a living wage. But just because somebody CAN do something doesn't mean they will. So even though I can come in, I won't be coming in to work. And I'm documenting this along with all the other things I've documented for the wrongful termination suit I'm going to have to lodge against the company. Have a nice day.🙂

It seems too extreme to me if they say, "If you are rushed to a hospital, you are able to come to work." That's where I would draw the line. But I agree with what they say about the doctor.
