When I close my eyes I struggle to visualize things... but when my eyes are open i have more control. For split seconds I will see things materialize, but not with my eyes. It's hard to explain. I'll be seeing with my eyes while in my head I might see something else overlapped onto the same background. I don't have great control of it, it's mostly intrusive or creepy. When I was a kid I'd do it with cute or sweet things, i thought of it as daydreaming. Imagining a castle in the sky or dragons. but as I'm older it's more scary things, evil ghoul children or rats.

Woah, that sounds pretty weird. I don't think I've ever heard of anything like that before. Being able to visualize stuff that isn't really there, overlaid on what your eyes are actually seeing - that's next level!
As for not being able to control it well, I can understand why that would be unsettling, especially if it's creepy or scary images. When you were a kid seeing cute stuff it was probably just innocent daydreaming, but seeing evil ghoul children for real would freak anyone out! Makes me grateful my brain doesn't do that haha.
Maybe it's just your imagination going into overdrive as you get older? Or could be a sign of something else - have you talked to a doctor about it? They might be able to help figure out if it's normal or not. At least it only lasts a split second so it's not like you're stuck seeing ghosts all the time! Still, I'd be pretty weirded out if I saw rats materialize out of nowhere too.
Not sure what advice to give really except maybe try focusing your mind on happier things when it happens, to help change the pictures? And see a doctor to rule anything else out. Hope it doesn't freak you out too much - stay strong! Let me know if it keeps happening or gets worse.
each one have their way in imagining things
