It is confirmed that the Bubonic Plague has been found in the US, What will be next?

In the last 3 years there has been Leprosy, Polio, Whooping Cough, Diphtheria and of course Tuberculosis. Now there have been confirmed cases of the Bubonic Plague. What will be the next disease that has not been seen in the US for decades to make a return?

The bubonic plague is far less deadly than when it swept through Europe. That being said of the currently known plagues and diseases etc the single worst one that could emerge is a variant of the Spanish flu. Last time humanity saw that it wiped out 15% of the world's population and there were already far less people. Also fun fact (not really fun though) we still do not possess a cure for the Spanish flu. And last fact should we see the Spanish flu emerge it is by human release. That being said lot of things we could see re-emerge and we could see stuff that we don't even know what the hell it does. My lab is currently studying a few things we pulled from below the permafrost. since it is thawing labs around the world are racing to figure out what stuff is below that and find cures and treatments. The 2 most likely causes of mass loss of life will be either things from below the perma frost or stuff from space. Either way not great especially if it is new

@jacobjordan Wasn't the bubonic plaque also called the Black Death? I think millions died from that. Is this something that we still vaccinate for or was it conquered, at least supposedly? I don't think I was ever vaccinated for it as a kid.

@Daniela1982 it was indeed called the black death. It was named as such as a result of the marks left on those who caught it. Those who caught it and died had various black splotches on their bodies as a result of the plague. we don't have a vaccine for it but we do have treatments and can cure it. It does pop up in a few people every so often. There are people who had ancestors that survived it and as a result they carry genetic markers that increase their resilience to it a surprising number of people today carry those markers which suggests that the bubonic plague was more widespread than historical texts suggest.

With all these illegal immigrants pouring in and with no testing for diseases, you can be sure it will only get worse, especially contagious diseases. During Covid, I don't think any of them were tested or given the jab. But who knows, for them that might have been a good thing seeing all the complications that have arisen from the vaccinations. Think of all the people that were fired for not getting it. And these people come in and possibly spread it and are not vaccinated. 😡

According to the National Institute of Health: "Immigrants and refugees are carefully screened before being granted entry into the United States for any major health condition, and are offered the same vaccines recommended to US citizens every day." Of course the ones picked up by Republicans and shipped up north to punish liberals were not screened and could spread the diseases. Blame the Republicans.

@Red_Arrow With over 300,000 pouring into the US in a week, I doubt we have the manpower to test them all or give them vaccinations. Can you imagine how long that would take, and having to house 1/3 million people and feed them, all to get all those vaccinated? I'm pretty sure most get shipped out all over the US as another million are coming in next week. But the real fact is that they shouldn't be allowed to come in at all.

Bubonic plague has been in the US forever. Its the primary reason you do not catch and cook rats and squirrels in the rocky mountains. Also, Bubonic plague is a bacteria which means its highly affected by antibiotics so, not exactly the horror it was pre-modern medicine.

Well, there actually are some places in the south that do squirrels. I don't know how safe it is there, but you do NOT eat squirrel in the rocky mountains.

It has been confirmed that it is not that big a deal. Never happens here in the UK, we don't get the plague or leprosy, but we do have a measles outbreak right now. How on Earth did you manage to get polio, it has been wiped out across the world all for one country.
