I complimented a European (French/Italian mix) girl's nose one time. She had a big aquiline nose and I thought it was really nice. So I blurted out since I was tipsy, "You have the most lovely aquiline nose! It's so lovely and big!"
Yet she seemed very reserved and distant to me. It seemed as though she was trying to avoid being near me after that for the entire rest of the night.
Then I was mentally kicking myself so hard. Why did I blurt that out? That was so dumb! I'm into drawing portraits and that's even portraiture 101. Don't ever focus on a woman's nose in portraiture. Don't render it to great detail. Don't make it a focal point. Why did I compliment her nose and make it a conversational focal point? Idiot, idiot, idiot!
So to make it up to her, I looked at photos my friends took from the party and painted a painting of her face to show her that she really is pretty and I wanted her to see the way I saw her nose. It was photo-refed and a bit stiff as a result (I prefer to draw from live subjects when possible) yet I spent all day and night on the painting hoping to make it up to her.
Then the next time I saw her at the party, I hadn't finished the painting yet but she actually walked up to me and asked me how it was going and started talking to me in the most friendly way. After that I learned from her friends that she's actually just really shy and takes a bit of time to warm up to people and that she really liked my compliment about her nose.
So then I was so relieved. I ended up finishing the painting and gave it to her as a parting gift since she had to return to France at the end of the summer. After that, she wrote me messages actually complaining that her boyfriend in France never compliments her nose the way I did. So actually she truly liked the compliment!
But I lost so much sleep worrying about that.
One thing though is that not long before that, I had an ex-girlfriend who was actually insecure that her nose was too small. That's actually a common insecurity among Japanese women is that their nose is so small, maybe because they are exposed to a lot of Western media. So I got used to telling her that her nose is just fine and it's not even that small.
I think that's why I blurted out to the European girl that her nose is so big, thinking it was a compliment, since I forgot that European women are sometimes insecure the opposite way thinking their nose is too large. But hers reminded me of Greco-Roman depictions of Athena.
Yet I have a bad habit of thinking out loud and so I thought I said something that made her upset.
I dug up an old photo of her from a party. She's making a funny face but maybe you can see the semblance to Athena from it:
For the painting I also depicted her as Athena complete with the robe and helmet. Thankfully we became very good friends after that (just friends, I wasn't try to date her).
Great read man
@GuyAnswersGirls123 Awesome story as usual🙂🙂
Cheers to both! 🤝It's a bit long-winded as usual. 😁
I got that ENFP tendency to literally think out loud and say the first thing that pops into my head. I've gotten over the general embarrassment that brings about to myself but I still worry a lot if I might have offended and upset a person (I no longer mind so much if I made a fool of myself, but still worried I might upset someone). Especially with women, so many I've met can be so insecure about their bodies so the last thing I want to do is contribute further to their insecurities.
I really liked her too and found her very pretty with the Athena-style nose but was disappointed to find out she had to return to France at the end of her summer vacation and that was just weeks away. So no point really in dating but we became very friendly after that and, once I realized she didn't mind my initial compliment about her nose, that's mostly all I talked about including to everyone else around us is how pretty her nose is. 😂
listening to an entire song... from Nickelback
you're killing me...

Getting Married I SO didn't want to crush My Hubby's dream of a big Wedding so We could have move for a House and move but He came to me and asked if I wanted to do it in court, bring family as witnesses. He gave Me a sense of relief that day.
Nice🙂
👍🏻👍🏻
I always assume the worst when my husband has to leave on work trips. Then as soon as he comes back I realize I was overthinking the whole time.

My piano lessons and my violin lessons... I never fail to feel unprepared to be able to play correctly, for my instructor, and she walks me through each piece and is never critical of my errors, and in fact encourages me. Lately, I try to play through pieces, (both treble and base clef) even though I make errors... Violin is not so difficult, but I stress with holding the bow correctly, moving it parallel to the 'bridge' and not wild bowing...
Also stress about getting the right answers about the Music Theory class I take from her. Also I should not stress about the homework
Gotcha🙂
I had a blood test lab thing that’s part of my yearly checkup and when they took my blood, the idiot - Yes I said the idiot - who needs to practice some more in my opinion. Popped my vein and it stung and you heard it pop. She took my blood and within 10 mins of leaving, my phone shows me my results - everything fine except for my potassium being DANGER level. I messaged my doc and he said do another blood test in a few days and he set it up. I immediately stopped salt and went for anything that was salt substitute that wasn’t potassium rich. I ended up using salt that is 50% less sodium and low potassium. Bonus - it has a saltier taste than regular salt.
Long story short - I went back, my blood was taken by another technician, and my potassium was perfect. The doc said the first time was a false reading from that pop in my vein when blood was taken first time.
Wow, that’s too bad😕
Yeah👍🏻👍🏻
Most things are like that.
You could stress about something, but in just a few days or weeks it will have been forgotten about. The only things I think I legitimately had something to stress over were tests in school.
Totally agree👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Finding a job after university. I even delayed writing by thesis cause I had so little confidence in finding a job. But it turned out finding a job is easy. Just finding a good one is hard XD
Awesome 🙂
Too many to count. The last thing probably thinking i had some sort of disease 😂
Ok😁
I’m big-time stressed out over a lot of stuff and it is a big deal
I am tend to be overthinking, it is stressful actually.
I worried that I wasn't going to get to a million dollars before I retired. Now 1. that's virtually assured. 2. I'm learning I likely won't need a million anyhow.
