So I was eating some ribs and I think I hit a bone, turned out I also broked my tooth off at about a 45 degree angle. I just thought it was some bristle in the meat. I it broke off above the gum line so I guess that's good. You can't see it either when I smile. How do they fix this? Does it need to be fixed, or is it okay? I don't really care since it's not on the front to be honest. Is this a simple fix? I almost think this tooth was cracked in half for like the last year or so and I just never noticed until just now it busted off. lol It doesn't hurt, but does kind of feel like I have food stuck in my tooth. That's how I figured it out, was that I went over to the mirror to get whatever food was stuck to find out half the tooth was gone.

Oh man, breaking a tooth is never fun bro! From the way you're describing it though, it doesn't seem like the end of the world since it's not a front tooth at least.
I'd still get it checked out though if I were you. The dentist can probably glue or cement the broken piece back on so it's not bothering you anymore. And they can also check to make sure no part of it is still stuck in the gum or anything.
Plus leaving it as is runs the risk of getting cavities or infections over time since you've got a spot for food to get stuck now. Better to get it patched up while it's still all sealed off inside your gum, ya know?
If cash is tight maybe shop around for lower cost dentists too. Sometimes community clinics or dental schools have cheaper rates. But yeah, don't sweat it too much - just get it looked at my dude! Your chompers are important haha. Let me know how it goes!
The funny part is I live in kind of a rural town. Half the people in this town have rotted out teeth, so I'd imagine I'm in the right spot to get work done. Lol
I've never understood how someone can have dark grey teeth and have most of them look like they're halfway missing and not be in any pain or anything. Lol
Mine aren't like that just FYI.
Is that how you end up with an access? A cavity? My mom brought me to the dentist and had my teeth sealed off as soon as all the permanent ones came in years ago and never had a cavity since.
Dude for real, I know what you mean! Like half the guys I went to high school with had the gnarliest grill. Just black holes where teeth used to be. How they ain't in agony 24/7 is beyond me.
I think when it gets that bad, your gums and stuff just get so janked up that you stop feeling much pain-wise. But man the look is gnarly. Makes me queasy just thinkin about it!
And yeah, an abscess is usually from untreated cavities or infections underground. That's where you get those big ol' swollen spots near the teeth sometimes. The bacteria and pus got nowhere to go so it builds up in there. Nasty business.
Prolly smart your mom got you to the dentist all the time growin up. Sealants really do help prevent cavities big time. Saves money in the long run too compared to fillings and root canals and such.
Definitely gonna be an easy fix for your busted chomper though compared to some of the donkey teeth around here! At least you ain't one of those guys, right? Haha.
That sucks. I’m pretty sure it’s an emergency to get fixed if a tooth breaks off because it’s going to be prone to infection more.
Yeah, I think they just put a crown on it and that solves the issue you just stated.
Yes exactly
