This week I've been attending hit classes at a gym and have received this comment several times. I found it weird because I'm more on the petite side, I've always think people who are gymnasts or ballet dances are "longer" in their muscles. I do look slim but dont know if I should take it as a compliment or not. What are the perks if any to resemble one?
At least for the elongated ballet type of figure, it lends itself well to communicating the most nuanced aspects of pose since longer limbs tends to mean we notice every subtle rotation of a joint. I think that's why such figures are often popular in modeling and a lot of dances which emphasize pose like ballet.
I always associated it with a certain type of elegance and grace. A shorter figure with more mass can have its own type of beauty yet it doesn't tend to visually communicate the most nuanced differences in pose.

I, for one, think when a lady looks like a gymnast or ballet dancer, she looks incredibly elegant, toned, fit.. in my own opinion, insanely attractive!
Clothes tend to look better when you have a lean and slender figure.
