Why does oatmeal cause weight gain?

Either you're eating in a caloric surplus with the oatmeal or your body is having a hard time digesting it due to the fiber & that can cause bloating & water retention. It's not uncommon for that to happen to me. Gain like 10lbs of water weight from my body struggling to digest stuffs.

Any food can cause weight gain if you eat too much of it. Oatmeal won’t cause weight gain unless you consume enough of it (in combination with other foods you may eat) to go past your daily needed calories. Toppings or milk you may add to oatmeal also increase the calories making it even easier to consume too many calories and gain weight.

For me it didn't. But then again I don't eat large portions of anything and I also eat it with almond milk, a bit of honey and cimmanon.

Oatmeal makes your muscles grow more than any other grain, that's what they use to help fatten up skinny horses
