If a person, man or woman, takes steroids to build muscle, is that person's muscles fake?

The muscles are real. Most men aren't even hyper responders to training like the biggest bodybuilders are, so even on steroids, they won't get that big.

Steroids just like any other performance enhancing substance will simply assist the body in producing a certain response. How greatly it will assist depends on genetics.

For instance, Chad Thundershlong could eat the same amount of saturated fats as I do but still have higher testoterone levels & subsequently gain more muscle mass than me due to his superior genetics.

Technically no, the muscles are real but they require constant maintenance. It can improve one’s fitness progress massively in a very short amount of time, but for this exact reason it’s not allowed in competitive fitness spaces such as bodybuilding or weightlifting.
