+1 yIt is certainly possible for a girl to get stronger than *some* guys. It's even possible for a girl to get stronger than the "average" guy, and if that's the case, if she were matched up with a random guy pulled off the street, she'd be stronger than him more often than not, but that would be extremely difficult without steroids.
Is it possible for a girl to get stronger than a male power-lifter of any rank, without steroids? Extremely, extremely unlikely. Moreover, if you were to rank every male on the planet by percentile in strength (compared to only the male population), and separately rank every female on the planet by percentile in strength (compared to only the female population), and then match up a male and a female of equal respective percentiles, the male would win 100% of the time. The 50th percentile male is stronger than the 50th percentile female. The 90th percentile male is stronger than the 90th percentile female. The strongest male on the planet is stronger than the strongest female on the planet. The weakest male on the planet is stronger than the weakest female on the planet. And so on. A girl can only ever be stronger than a guy who ranks lower among other guys than she does among other girls.01 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI'll admit I am probably an oddity in this regard.
My ethnic background (Scottish/German) means that I am powerfully built. My father used to lift 100lb barbells without steroids & do 100 pushups on his fingertips (he also competed against guys who'd later become Olympic level athletes in his high school). And my childhood/lifestyle of working on farms/with livestock/climbing in mountainous terrain means I developed the heavier muscular that comes from steady hard work.
A couple of weeks ago I was talking with a guy who is quite built. He does weights seriously.
When I mentioned I can do things like 70lb lat pulldowns (and that's light due to a shoulder injury / not attending a gym in a decade, I used to do 180lbs) at the gym he was like "that's good". There are guys at my gym who can barely do 40-60slbs.00 Reply

+1 yI think I'm unusually stronger than most women or girls with a similar frame. A bit of strength training is part of my workout regimen. I can't say for sure that I'm truly stronger than a guy who is in the same level of fitness training as I unless he's also as petite as I am.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yWhen you ask that question, are you asking in a context of absolutes?
Nature has made it so that the guy by default is going to have a bit more (not a whole lot) strength than their woman counterparts.
The physical strength development of an individual also depends on lifestyle, training protocols, nutrition, stress management and recovery for the individual. To me, the training regimen (along with the other factors mentioned) is going to be the determining factor in how physically strong the person gets.
There are women out there that are ALREADY stronger than a lot of guys out there. Meaning that there are women who squat more, bench more, and deadlift more than a lot of the guys who had been going to the gym for a while. If you're talking about a girl getting as humanly stronger than ALL guys (without drugs), then you are asking to be the cream of the crop which would be almost if not at all possible (unless you're factoring in the natural genes of the person too i. e. leverages and whatnot).
Lastly, what do you want to get out of this? Like are you trying to be a competitive athlete in specific sport?10 Reply
+1 yA very good question that intrigues me actually.
It could be possible, you should try lifting weights that are heavier instead of lighter weights with more repetitions.
And you should try explosive exercises more like plyometrics.
But if you’re fighting a guy, you just just have to kick him in the balls lol. Agree?24 Reply- +1 y
😂true lmao

But if you dont mind me asking, what caused you to ask this?
- +1 y
I want to get stronger, because I want to be able to protect myself and others, so I want to know if that’s even possible
- +1 y
Okay then the bulky muscles you see are of very little use in fights because they only allow you to lift weight for longer times and that’s it so it’s very little practical use except carrying stuff around though I could tell you many different techniques and you could try them but they’ll obviously be less effective on you because you’re a girl but it doesn’t mean it won’t work at all
There is no limits to the strength of a female they have more stamina endurance can take more punishment than men know fact and have nothing to do with child bearing your mental capacity is far greater than males fighter pilot women can with stand more g forces than men, but for so long women have been portrayed as weak helplesst hat's the ignorance of the times women has more resiliency and you don't need to look like the hulk to be stronger than a man, I'm not going you up or swelling your heads just being honest factual so there you go time we stop lying to our selves twisting the facts,,,,

+1 yThere's a lot of variables here. If we're talking about "strong for the average person" then yeah, a woman can definitely work hard and get to the stage where she woukd be stronger than quite a few guys. I know a few women with impressive squats and deadlifts, not so much on the bench though.
If we're talking serious powerlifting then guys have the edge there. More muscle mass, more explosive strength, denser bones. No doubt there are some impressively strong women but as I understand it men have a greater capacity to build strength at that level.10 Reply2.7K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Lol no.
It's not possible, men were designed we have naturally denser muscles and we have more muscle fibers then women do.
Men have a higher muscle-mass to body-mass ratio. The greater muscle mass is reported to be due to a greater capacity for muscular hypertrophy as a result of higher levels of circulating testosterone in males.
Males also convert more of their caloric intake into muscle and expendable circulating energy reserves, while females tend to convert more into fat deposits. As a consequence, males are generally physically stronger than females.
Our elevated levels of testosterone in our bodies allow us to more quickly and easily build bigger muscles with increased strength and power.10 ReplyOk this question has so many answers to it. It all depends on the situation, given it be a type of sport or plain old one on one wrestling and even then it all depends on your opponent. If you face someone in any kind of sport and you, being the female, has had a lot more training and gained more experience then it will seem like you are stronger but technique and experience counts a hell of a lot when your opponent has none. But if you take a male and female with equal experience and technique then again there is some other factors that come into play. But definitely a topic for pub night... lol.. Hope it makes sense.
00 ReplyDepends on her frame and if you're talking about her getting stronger than the average man or talking about a man that works exactly how she does. She can be stronger than the average man but not a man who works out just as much as she does. If you're considering weight lifting go for it! Me among many other guys believe that women who work out are sexy beautiful and strong. Watch Brute women showdown on YouTube its inspiring. That deadlift was fucking insane
10 ReplyLook, there will be women stronger then men physically if kept totally natural. But in general women will have simply less muscular mass as men, Mother Nature, etc, etc. The sport world knows this and that’s why sports is in general split in male and female categories. There will be certain women much stronger then certain men because the gender gap is not wide.

+1 yIn a fully heads up natural muscle build scenario.
Using only diet / exercise and weight lifting to build muscle and get into great physical shape.
Would think it is possible yes. But might take the woman more time then the guy however. Depending on the people used that is.00 Reply
+1 yProbably but why would you ever need or want to? Just to say you because guys at something? You'll look like an absolute hulk when all you needed to be stronger than guys is a swift kick or a weapon. Divide distribution of force into smaller surface areas and target the beanbags.
00 ReplyNo, if that was the case we wouldn't need separate professional sport leagues.
Lower body wise depending on your build it might be possible to be stronger than some strong men with certain body compositions, but upper body wise girls can't come close00 ReplyIt's possible if she's more muscular then them but if she's the same type of muscular as the muscular guy naturally he's more likely to be stronger but that's why wits strategy common sense and cunning is best in a fight.
10 Reply324 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Men are always going to be physically superior to women with few exceptions, but technique in martial arts doesn't need you to be very strong or have very high endurance. If you study martial arts for years and years (under a good dojo), the statistical likelihood of you meeting someone who can match you is pretty low.
00 ReplyNo. It is not. Men have 10-17x the testosterone women do, as well as a larger frame capable of supporting more muscle and more efficient muscle attachment points.
Given equal training, a man will always be stronger than a women. Even within the same weight class.11 Reply- +1 y

No. Men have a massive edge on women when it comes to that. Testosterone. It's a natural steroid. Testosterone causes our muscles to be more dense, causes our bones to be heavier and thicker. Causes us to gain muscle faster and lose weight faster.

Most men don't attack women. Most men wouldn't want to do that. We are raised from a young age to protect women.. And honestly our instincts say we need to. Protect women.
I guarantee when it comes to being jumped or attacked by men, en stand a greater risk to that kind of thing than women do.. - +1 y

Yes if the guy doesn't work out the same as the girl. If they both do the same routine the guy will always be stronger.

Biology says men have physical strength..
Females have physical endurance..11 Reply- +1 y
Nope. Women have emotional intelligence.
Men also possess superior physical endurance. Thats why male and female athletes compete in a different class, and the female class is always slower. Look at marathons for example, the average male time is 30 minutes quicker than the average female time.
A notable exception is swimming, thats easier for women because of their higher bodyfat levels. They don't need to do as much work to stay afloat so they dominate water endurance.
Not by strength but we can beat them by using some fighting tricks with speed

+1 yGenerically-speaking, the average male will be stranger than the average female. That said, individuals vary WIDELY, and at least theoretically, it is absolutely possible for a female to be 'stronger' than a male!

Yes women can get strong and be stronger than the average man, without steroids.00 Reply
+1 yYes, but highly unlikely. Especially for upper body strength. I've seen plenty of women that can squat higher than most guys though. With the same amount of training, it's generally impossible though.

measures of body strength suggest that women are approximately 50-60% as strong as men in the upper body, and 60-70% as strong in the lower body.00 ReplyStronger than strong guys maybe no, but you can def get stronger than average guys!

Stronger than strong guys? Of course not.10 Reply870 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Sure. Women are only moderately less stronger. Society has made physical activity more a man’s job. Anatomically, it’s of course possible.
19 Reply- +1 y
Ummmm, if disagree there. I never went to a gym and didn't do any physical activity for 3 years, yet by my second attempt at the bench press I was already benching more than girls I know who have worked out for years.
Lower body wise they might be able to get relatively close, but women on average have 25% less upper body strength.
If your logic was correct they wouldn't need separate leagues for professional athletes. - +1 y
@nathanp97 so you’re anecdotal experience should be taken as scientific?
- +1 y
@nathanp97 Ahh, did blaming mistakes on jokes work in school before you dropped out?
- +1 y
Not sure what question you asked in your rambling responses so far. If it’s the gendered sports one, I’d say the real reason is sexism dating back to when the sport was started. Now they’re just afraid of a man tackling a woman and then accidentally touching a breast. But i think the Billie Jean King vs Bobby Riggs match proves women can compete.
- +1 y
Sorry I ment my 25% less upper body strength point.
And as far as your anecdotal evidence goes that is one example of a guy who didn't even really train for the match because he thought it was easy and there is speculation that he through the match to pay off his 100, 000 dollar gambling debt.
They have mixed double tennis matches and the women struggle to even return a serve from a guy and can't hit the ball nearly as hard. Women just can't match the strength of a guy.
