How bad is the pain of childbirth?

It's not that bad. If it was so bad, women wouldn't have more after the first one. My home health nurse has 8 children so it's not that bad.
In time after you have the baby, the memory of labor pains diminishes and you don't remember every little thing.
Of course every woman is different, so it varies.
But I wouldn't let them talk you into a C section unless it's life or death. The doctors do way too many C sections because it's faster for THEM because they don't want to wait around until you go into labor. They want to leave the hospital and do whatever they want. It's about saving time for them and C sections can be dangerous.
Doctors don't care anymore.

It is, quite literally documented as the most painful experience a human can ever suffer through in their lifetime. More than breaking a bone, more than getting stung by a tarantula hawk, more than the body horror of getting eggs from a botfly in your body, more than your appendix bursting, and this isn’t only due to the level of pain itself but the time in which you must endure it. The longer the pain lasts, the worse it is, and the time for labor can last anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days if there’s complications.


If you’re pregnant or considering a natural birth process, I would strongly recommend some kind of epidural at the very least. Yes, there’s a risk of spinal problems as you’re literally numbing yourself through your bones but it works.

the prelabour for nearly a week had me suicidal.
the actual "pushing" while being on gas and air, was actually very "easy" in comparison. It felt more like a very tricky "poop"

For me, it wasn't that bad... that said, my whole labor and delivery was surprisingly quick and the end result was worth every second of it.

It was totally worth it once they handed me my daughter and she started suckling at my breast.
