Psychiatrist. I got a degree in psychology from my university but If I went any further I'd be a psychologist or actually go into psychiatry. So that would be the closest I think.
I see a potentially HUGE difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist, unless the psychiatrist is private and is trained for therapy. There is actually enough difference to make you hate psychiatry when you come from psychology lol. Why did you stop these studies by the way?
True big difference just based off of the medical side of psychiatry alone. It's a big difference but it's still focused around human behavior and the mind in general.
I stopped because I got my degree in psychology but I started my business so I didn't need to continue with psychology.
Odd path you had then, I had no idea people could switch from such a field so easily lol. What made you go for these studies in the first place?
Long story but I've been dancing since I was 9 years old competitively. When I went to college, I got a degree in psychology because I found it interesting, honestly. While I was in college towards the end I was a part time instructor just kind of assistant at the studio in the city I lived in. When I graduated I was able to teach dancing full time.
You already provide therapy here so you may as well get paid!
Haha I just don't think the normal people here need therapy, the crazy ass people on here, no amount of therapy would ever help them. Sometimes people can just completely broken beyond repair. Fucked in the head I'm afraid.
That's my diagnosis 🤣
okay, so you were really going on two paths at the same time, makes sense then !
Yeah opportunity and money and passion outweighed psychology.
You could be "hated" for that in my place since last year slots to reach degree are based on selection only but US school system might be different, I have no idea
It's definitely different. If you have the grades and money then you're getting into a university. Then when you're in that university you choose whatever major you want and start taking classes that advisors help you pick out to further explore that major.
Okay, so that's different indeed, if you happen to have a summary of classes took during your school time, I'm interested. To take a look at the contents you've been taught, overall
You go through your "core" classes like college algebra, English, some people pick stuff like world literature as I did, history, your basic entry level college stuff. Once you get those hours in then you focus on your actual major and minor if you choose one.
So I took stuff like child psychology, psychology 1101 and 1102, animal psychology, behavior modification, research methods, psychology statistics, deviant behavior, abnormal psychology, stuff like that.
Abnormal psychology was based on all the different personality disorders and how they affect the people that have them and that affects those people around them. So stuff like antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, bi polar, dissociative identity disorder, histrionic personality disorder. Pretty much the hits.
Deviant behavior is more sociological and covers what is considered deviant according to the society it's in. So like
If you go to university and don't party or socialize and drink alcohol then you would be considered deviant because you are going against the normal social constructs of that environment.
It's all about how society sets the social rules and if you follow or don't and his you're viewed by the majority.
I'm surprised to see ethology and sociology in a psychology curriculum ! But that's ofc interesting to have these fields taught as well. It looks like our curriculum in my place are more specialized then, as there are not really "core" classes taught at college, only during high school and earlier.
So, reading you, the schools of thought taught is cognitive-behavioral, with some paths to developmental psychology. and a bit of history of psychology, which seems to be the point of psychology 1101 ?
All mental disorders are covered.
@Maybe_Maybe_not
Sociology was a minor not my major.
Yes, any clinical based activity isn't really stressed in undergrad in psychology. You discuss like I said disorders and behavior but you aren't trained how to treat or anything at that level. That's master's and up. On the bachelor's level it's mostly the history and basics of psychology and more research focused.
All right I confused bachelor degree with another one then, due to not knowing equivalence, okay I get it, I thought you stopped at master, but it was bachelor
It wasn't an option but I think I would want to be an emergency room doctor. Out of the choices that were there I picked pediatrician
I almost voted for paediatrician, but then I remembered... To even have access to that, you need to go through medical studies for years, from what I spectated, it means living in a world of very high competitiveness and enclosed life bubble, for years lol

Probably physiatrist I've also liked physical activity and physical related stuff, which is partly why I became a personal trainer in my younger years.
I am ISTP which make great surgeons from what I understand.
It is from a Myers’s-Briggs test which has been used for over 80 years by large companies and other to put people int one of 16 personally types. These types gravitate and excel at certain jobs. Some people o here don’t put stock in it but many do. Free tests are online. Take one with a lot of questions for a better result and then read up on your type.
I would be a surgeon. They perform miracles on a regular basis. Besides , they make tons of money.
I'm glad there are all sorts of physicians, but it's really not for me !
About the only doctorate I would have any hope of getting would be in music.
