Hysterectomies remove your female organs and bring on early menopause. Though nowadays, you get hormone therapy, but those same hormones, that aren't supplied naturally, can be cancer causing if taken in pill form for too long.

I had painful periods during my adult life and I took muscle relaxants to help me. They worked. A hysterectomy is MAJOR SURGERY. There is no need to have an operation that removes natural organs that are HEALTHY.

The only reason to have one is if your uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix are DISEASED.

Women have painful periods because their uterus is cramping to remove the blood-rich lining that forms monthly. This is a natural process that does not indicate disease. But for some women it is painful. So you take ibuprofen, aspirin or a muscle relaxant for a day or two.

I made it through my whole life intact with the few problems periods cause women. I still have all my organs and no cancer as it does not run in my family.

If a woman has serious problems during her period that require more than the above, then she should have an evaluation. But no 20 year old needs a hysterectomy unless she has endometreosis, recurrent bleeding cysts, cancer or another serious issue.

As someone agender, I've always felt really at odds with my hormones and definitely all the garbage that went with it. I had to fight tooth and nail to get a tubal ligation at 27 years old, and then I still had to get a Mirena IUD just to stop the Aunt Flo B. S. The PMS, the mood swings, the weight-gain, and the general misery of estrogen is a serious quality-of-life issue for me.

Depends on pre or post children tbh. Even still complete hysterectomy is not advised for hormonal reasons. My wife has SEVERE endometriosis and just knowing that may be an option is comforting and terrifying.

Nah I have no reason to get rid of my uterus. I'm still using it and planning many more pregnancies in the future.

Also i already have good enough insurance to get it done for free if I wanted to. My husband is planning on getting the snip done for birth control once we are done having kids

Pretty good. No longer need to worry about pregnancy or save up just incase an abortion is needed, periods are gone and so on. Only downside is I might hit menopause early, but that's fine by me
