I've got my bedside table, along with my chest and then several spare planks of wood and then a two step ladder on top of that. I was so chuffed with myself of getting into the attic, that I didn't think my plan through... I'm so smart 🤦♀️

Well you made it down OK. Next time remember that going down is almost always harder and more dangerous than going up. I did construction work and have been up ladders to roofs and other places thousands of times. Coming back down is more awkward and dangerous. Plus you can't even see where you are stepping half the time.
Stepping down onto a ladder that you can barely reach is a good way to knock the ladder over. Then you are really screwed.
It's much the same doing rock climbing or even climbing steep hills. Or trees.
Any any time you put a ladder on top of something else, you should seriously ask yourself if it's a good idea. I've done it, and so have most people, but when you do it, you need to be triple careful and question if it's a good idea.
If you are alone, that requires extra caution also. If something happens when you are alone, it can multiply the consequences a LOT.
Yeah I was having a lot of these thoughts going up... Yet didn't trust my gut, I honestly think it would have been better to get down without the stuff there. I ended up standing on the ladder the wrong way around, it's a good thing I have half decent strength in my arms in the end, next time I'm getting a ladder, so that means in the next couple of weeks for Christmas decorations.
Your gut instinct was trying to keep you alive and unharmed. :)
There is a thing called just jumping down. I can't imagine the attic is that high up from the floor so all you have to do is fall through. It won't hurt, we used to jump for garages and flats or trees that are higher than that without it doing much.
By the steps it don't seem high.
Remember humans can drop from a minor height without any problems, especially when planned and prepared. It's not as if we are fragile and break at a slight fall lol.
A few months ago I threw all of my old poetry I had written since the 1970's.
Then I found out that the poems I had ever written that I rewrote into one book was stolen from me.
So now I don't have any of my poetry 😔
I was going to a meeting the other morning and set my GPS. Everything was going great but then I had a blonde moment, the GPS told me to make the next "right" but for some unknown reason, I turned left! 🙄
@exitseven lol I'm not THAT blonde.

You sound just like a cat that's found itself stuck in a tree lol.
end of July, I managed to break my leg on a fire call.
@Fireguy17 I knew a firefighter that broke his leg when he was cutting down a tree in his yard. He did not go to the hospital. He waited until his next shift and went to work and "hurt himself on the job" so he could collect disability.
@exitseven that doesn't even surprise me my broken arm didn't hurt unless I used it and I could still somewhat use it
@exitseven that is not right.
I had a number of witnesses that saw me flying through the air and disappear along with the guy that lifted the trailer off of me.
But I can see that happening, esp with back injuries.
That is why work comp likes to know who saw it happen.
I was good friends with a cop that went out with a knee injury. He could do squats with 300 pounds and he was a avid skiier. His brother was a cop in another town and saw how good his brother made out so he faked a back injury.
A few months later he got a job with a roofer and the insurance company followed him to a jobsite one day and took pictures of him carrying bundles of shingles up a ladder. He lost his job and had to pay a fine on top of that.
Well, you should have let me know ahead of time, and I would have brought over a good 6 foot step ladder for you to use and helped up get up there and then down!
I didn't feed my cats on time, this morning... lol
@exitseven almost made a hole, through my door... lol
litterally just 10 minutes ago. i was preparing myself some ramen on the stove but then i went back to gaming with my buddies and i forgot about it for so long that all the water was boiled off and the noodles burned xD
19 magic ouch your arm. Well for me something stupid everyday Jose even though that's not your name hey that rhymes too by the way funny. But 19 magic so sorry about your arm happy Halloween 👻 🎃
I am sure that there are plenty of stupid things I have done. I dove off a bridge to impress a girl and almost broke my neck.
I let the scammer scammed me. And I as a careful person felt ashamed for it
Can you call someone to help you get down?
Next time get a ladder
