Was I drugged by someone at the bar and what was their motive?

I was drinking with a friend and had only ONE drink the entire night. We had food before we drank and we made sure to drink lots of water. I didn't take any medications that could possibly cause this reaction. After a few sips of my drink and maybe 15 minutes into drinking it, I lost total consciousness. I started having blind spots/spotty vision, was so dizzy and my hearing was going away. I couldn't stand up so I just stayed sitting and I almost stopped hearing and seeing what was going on around me. I just put my head down and prayed the feeling would pass. It was so terrifying and I really have a hard time believing that I got drunk off of ONE drink.

It really disturbed me and my friend quickly paid for the drinks when she saw what state I was in and after maybe 20 minutes the feeling went away and I slowly stood and up and began feeling more steady on my feet. Was I drugged? It was the most scary moment and I felt like I was out of my own body and it was so disturbing. Someone explain what happened. But if I was drugged, what was the motive? Because I do have gaps in my memory but I know it was not for sexual reasons because I just went home after recovering and no one tried anything inappropriate with me. Why would it happen then, if not for sexual reasons? I'm still shaken up from that and feel so upset that I was so out of control with my own body and mind. As far as I know, there wasn't an opportunity for anyone to tamper with my drink unless it was the bartender himself... Has this ever happened to anyone and why? It disgusts me that someone would tamper with another person's drink for their own sick amusement or whatever ulterior motives they have.

This sounds like you had a serious medical emergency, like a seizure, and you need to talk to a medical professional. This timeline doesn't match any drug I've ever heard of. That's way too fast to come one, and way too fast to wear off. Please talk to a doctor.

Do you know what kind of seizure it could be? I don't have a history of seizures but I've had a similar experience around 6 months ago and it also came on suddenly, in a matter of minutes, and then it faded after about 20 minutes. I don't know what triggers it and whenever I research those symptoms, it doesn't point to any medical conditions but only seems to match people who have been drugged... It's scary and I don't know how to describe it to a doctor. Any suggestions? Thank you :)

I am not a doctor, but you should Google "tonic clonic seizure" and "different types of seizures."

Nothing you drank would cause an onset that quickly and wear off that quickly. "Roofies" last all night. I've taken plenty. Especially with you having a similar experience six months ago, this sounds extremely concerning for a medical condition.

Are you taking any medications or doing any reckless dieting?

I'm going to read into tonic clonic seizures but so far they only seem to point to muscle spasms or twitching and that's not what I'm experiencing. It could be some form of a seizure but there are around 5 types and it's hard to know which one precisely it could be. I don't take any medications whatsoever, generally a very healthy diet and hardly ever drink. And when I do, it's maybe one drink and I keep sipping at it all night. I don't do things in excess and I'm very responsible with lifestyle choices

Wish I had but will keep that in mind for next time if there is a next time. Really hope there won't be because that was a really terrifying experience. I hate it and it feels like you're not even inside your own body and on the brink on passing out completely. Like slowly each of your senses shut down and vision and hearing fade completely.

What kind of medical issue could it be? Could a bartender do something like that? Because I don't think I left my drink unattended and it basically went from his hand to mine. It's scary that it happened and I just keep thinking that I did something embarrassing that my friend didn't tell me about because I really can't remember what happened. But one drink can't possibly make me blackout drunk, could it?

It was scary af. I still keep thinking about it and the whole reason I don't drink is because I hate that out of control feeling and need to be very aware of what I'm doing and how i'm behaving. If I do bring it up to my doctor, how should I ask about it? I'm not sure how I can explain something like this? Do you have any suggestions? It seems to be a very unusual reaction and nothing seems to match it online as far as medical conditions except being roofied... I'm scared and worried

I'd tell your doctor exactly what happened and also that you might suspect that the drink was spiked. Let him/her have all the facts. Make sure that you tell them you had no prior episodes either.

Of course, they will have your medical history but make sure that you tell the doctor that this was the first time it has ever happened to you. That is important.

I know and I thought about that. But it was so short lived and my friend kept telling me "maybe we didn't have enough food" or said I was "lightweight." Are those the signs that I was roofied? I didn't read about it too much but I felt so out of my own body and it terrified me. And I'm a very controlled person and generally hate anything that makes me feel out of my element. This was terrifying and probably my worst nightmare because I had to rely on her recollection of the evening and not even trust my own perceptions because I was literally blackout drunk from one drink :(

You could have been drugged out you could have had summer medical issue, you should have told your friend to take you to the hospital when you started feeling weird

I regret not going to the hospital to get things checked out. I have no idea what medical issue could be causing this. Do you have any idea what it might be? The little research I did do doesn't explain the symptoms I was experiencing and nothing seems to match that terrifying period of time. Let me know if you come up with any possible answers. I understand what you're saying but from what I do know, the drink was never left unattended. I didn't go to the bathroom, I stayed seated the entire time and it basically went from the bartender's hand to mine. We didn't even interact with anyone and I was just having a conversation with my friend until it hit me... I just don't understand how it could happen when I wasn't drinking in excess and did everything responsibly. I will be far more careful now even though I was not being reckless before. I hope no one experiences that. But why would someone do that if it wasn't to take advantage of me or try to be sexual? What other motive could there possibly be?
