Probably because they're smart. Research shows that it not only damages your brain and makes you more prone to early dementia and Alzheimer's as well as lowering your IQ, but it also causes some kinds of cancer.

You have to be really stupid to inhale any kind of smoke until your lungs and body and there is a special place of stupid poor people who do it in order to purposely affect their brains.

Not only that but the pot today is not the same as it was back in the '60s and 70s. It's much more dangerous. It has been modified to be much stronger and much more likely to cause health problems. And sometimes, on top of all of that, it is laced with dangerous substances.

So I would say that a lot more people don't smoke pot because they're smart.

Read "Marijuana and Madness." It is a medical text written by psychiatrists who specialize on the effects of drugs on the brain and the development of mental illness and the negative effect on learning and brain development. There is a chapter dealing specifically with the relationship between smoking marijuana and brain damage. It will be impossible to understand if you have no training in neurobiology or pharmacology, but the first paragraph clearly states "a decade ago, if asked if marijuana smoking caused permanent brain damage, the answer would have to be that it was possible. Today, with the proliferation of brain research. it is safe to say that chronic marijuana use causes brain damage." That is a pretty strait forward statement from a scientist who does research on the topic and a clinician who treats drug addicts.
