What are some tips to improve my running?

Currently I am running 1 mile per three days, which is a total of 3 miles. I finish each mile around 10 minutes and 30 seconds. Should I do strength training or certain exercises to train for running. I am a "beginner" runner. I used to run a lot in high school and would finish a mile between 6 to 9 minutes. I am also trying to loose weight, so maybe as I loose more weight I can improve. I go to the gym too and eating healthier. Thank you πŸ™‚
