Do you ever wash your ears and get water in them?

I play sports in high school and after practice or a game, I wash my outer ear with soap and water but i’ll always get water in them making me feel even worse. Do you guys wash your ears or should I stop?

I used to swim a lot and I was also a surfer. I've gotten water in my ears hundreds of times. It doesn't hurt them. Water can't get past your ear drum. It will run out naturally.

When I shampoo my hair in the shower, I used the suds to wash all around my ears thoroughly. I even stick a soapy finger part way inside and move it around.

After I dry off and brush my hair, I take a square of toilet paper and fold it twice. Putting the tip of my finger on it, I wipe and dry my ear shell and then push into my ear and shake my finger to dry the outer part of my ear canal. Afterwards, I insert a Q-tip all the way and let it wick up water that's deep inside.

It's not necessary to dry them so thoroughly. As I said, the water will drain out on its own. It's just my routine for keeping my ears clean.

I don't know where you heard that. I don't shove my finger deep.
As far as soap? I rinse my ears out after I get soap in them. Then I gently dry them out and remove any water and residue with a Q-tip.

A while back, a doctor said my ears (ear canals) were very clean. No wax build up. And I don't get ear infections.

Please wash your ears, inside as well. Whoever does your physicals will thank you. Too many times I had new privates, even new medics, come to the aid station with gross impacted ears. Unless you like having hydrogen peroxide sprayed into them to clean them out (which hurts like hell if you let it dry and crack the skin).

wash them inside and out with soap? I’m sorry but i never heard of this. I thought not washing your ears was normal since you don’t want water getting in them…..

Just run warm water into it, no soap. Ear wax builds up both inside and out. Water getting into them isn't an issue or people who swim would be wearing ear plugs, and that's with heavily chlorinated water.
