Anonymous(30-35)1 yI work a weird schedule. 6pm-2am. I like to go to the gym after work. Less people in the gym. Also, surprisingly, at my gym most of the people there from 2-4am are ladies.
That means, when I'm in the sauna in the locker room after working out, I don't have to deal with guys putting paper towels over the sauna censor to try to heat it above what it is meant for. When I've gone in the daytime, never fails that somebody tampers with the censor, which then shorts the circuit and shuts it off entirely and it takes time for a worker to reset it, if they even do. In the few times it does not short, they make it so unbearably hot.
Also, the ladies that come around this time do not bring drama and try to blast someone on social media. And they are super helpful if I'm struggling with a workout. We support each other like how gym culture is supposed to be. Many gyms have issues with certain types of women causing problems, but the ladies at my gym at the time I go are all awesome and are even being the leaders in bringing the correct gym culture back.

1 yI've been working out since before I was born (poor Mom!) and I still do. I still lift weights, do indoor cycling and several months ago added some yoga type stretching to my routine for the first time in my life after going through a bout of Sciatica which I never had in my life before and hope to never have again! DAMN that was the most painful thing I ever experienced! Came out of nowhere!
Anyway, in recent years I have been working out at night... mostly because I am too busy during the day to do it. I've never been a morning person, but I am trying to change that now with mixed success. Recently I was able to tolerate some early AM workouts instead of waiting until night. ... And I LOVED IT! I have noticed that with my work, I always get a big energy boost if I accomplish something positive first thing in the morning. It gives me a boost in my mood and my productivity for the rest of the day.
Working out first thing had the same effect! Gave me a sense of accomplishment first thing in the morning that motivated me all day. I was hoping it would do that and it did.
The downside is who wants to hit the weights when you've barely even opened your eyes and have to do curls looking in the mirror with a bedhead? Not sure if I can keep it up, but going to try. 😀

Prefer early morning but rarely get it bc of work, so I settle for evening workouts, which tend to be focused on one area for the evening rather than a full-body thing. Now that the summer's coming and the work schedule slows down I can get back to the early morning and take my time. (Yay!)

Late night for me
I can never wake up energized enough in the morning, even when I’m well rested
(The only exception is the kind of workout I don’t need to leave the bed for 😏)21 Reply- 1 y
Lol!! Well that is a natural wake up call Mr. I can see why that would be the case. 😉
1 yI always do late night. Workouts in the morning are probably a better habit though. They set you up for the day mentally and physically.

@EmmaMary It really depends on the free time I have and what kind of workout I am doing. I always prefer mornings before work or anything else because it wakes my body up and it helps me in my job. If it's going to be a busy day I usually workout before breakfast or late at night before bed. Xxx
1 yEarly morning for me, exercising for the mere purpose of exercising isn't enjoyable for me, so I like to get it out of the way and be done with it + my hair and sleep schedule doesn't agree with late showers.

1 yMorning. Not sure why, but I have been running for years around 0500 and then working out after. The only exceptions are my Uechi-ryu and BJJ days, because there is no one around that early.
