Is this a bad job for someone with DDD?

I have a Disc degenerate disease stage one in my spine. I recently applied to be a patient transporter at a hospital. I couldn't really find a full description on it other than you transport people in wheelchairs. Is there any manual heavy lifting involved?

Some people weigh a lot.
I was diagnosed with DDD in my 30's and I am 70 now and my lower back hurts and is painful just from everyday living.
So try not to do anything to make it worse because by the time you get to be my age you will really start to feel the damage.

Most likely, lifting them from one place into the chair or vice versa.
