Thoughts on people who use mobility scooters at stores? I don't want to judge but JFC the REASON you're infirm & out of breath is BECAUSE you're FAT?

There's never a thin or elderly person using them!! They're ALWAYS pushing the maximum weight limit. Obesity is a CAUSE AND EFFECT of your poor health!! Eat a God damn carrot and walk!!

Hahaha, my 93 year old dad wants to come with me into the stores to shop sometimes, and like half the time we can’t get him a scooter. Then sometimes I’ll see teenagers joyriding one, on a Saturday afternoon when it’s likely they’ll be needed legitimately😒

Then this one time at a Walmart, they have the two entrances on opposite sides, each with carts. We came in the more heavily trafficked side, and there was one cart, but it was charging without enough battery to work with.

So we start heading to the other side to looking, and he’s going slow because he needs a walker, because he has a bad leg from a stroke. This lady who came in after us, and DEFINITELY heard me telling my dad we were going to go to the other side for a working cart (he’s deaf as a post, I have to yell to him, lmao) obviously is deliberately speed-walking past us, and she ends up getting the one cart that was over there, and my dad ended up having to go back to the car.

I know “not all disabilities are visible” and all that, but if you can hustle the width of a Walmart, you should maybe defer to the elderly OBVIOUSLY disabled man who was old and conscious enough to remember Pearl Harbor getting hit🙄 People are animals, man😒😒😒

If you want to stay out of one, don’t get in one and always walk.

Well let's see here. I am a type one diabetic of 60 years duration. During my 74 years life time. I have been a runner, camper, sailor, father, woodworker and multi instrumentalist. During my career, I have been a dishwasher, a bagger, a medical technologist, emergency medical technologist, x ray tech, autopsy tech, college student, salad bar re-stocker, autopsy instructor and surgical pathology instructor. working at four medical schools primarily in the East When I lost my job in 2009, I was offered a job as a sexual surrogate, albeit on an informal level. I declined. I started building musical instruments, making Nantucket baskets, but in 2013 I decided to have my right leg removed due to poliomyelitis. The remaining toes of my left foot have been removed and so I have approximately 6 inches of flesh in the shoe. I generally don't take handicapped carts unless I am trying to preserve the use of my left nub. Currently I weight 186 lbs and am six feet tall. I generally don't chastise other for their lack of perception. Can males be Karens? I think you need to look in a mirror to see the problem. Often people4 who have had no challenge in their lives have the most inaccurate view of reality.

Yes, there are people who are lazy. They are on welfare, they smoke, they eat bags of potato chips and 2 liter bottles of Pepsi. However I would not be so quick to judge because there are people that end up like that because of a real disability.

What is with the never ending attack on those who use mobility scooters? First, obesity isn't the ONLY reason people use mobility scooters. Seniors and those who can't walk long distances also use them (aka, my grandparents). If you can't walk far because you're obese, taking away the scooter is not going to magically improve their health. It would probably have an opposite effect of them not being able to get out and do things like basic shopping. Why does it even bother you so much? Obesity in the US has been a problem for decades.

Ranting at someone obese, "you're fat," hasn't solved the problem yet, has it? All you can do is take care of yourself and your loved ones. You can't make them exercise or get fit because you feel they should or because you yell at them. Also not a good idea to just assume because you have literally no clue how they got that way.

The fat acceptance movement is why. I had a liberal woman i work with harping on to me about fat acceptance and how white supremacy is behind climate change and how I need to get a hybrid and pointed out that I need to reduce my carbon footprint and boasted about all she did. Annoyed I made the mistake of pointing out how because of how obese she actually was that her carbon footprint is at least 5 times what mine is because she eats more food, needs more clothing for clothes, her vechile uses more energy to transport her, she needs to seats in an aircraft train or bus and obese people like her drive up the cost of health insurance so on. She reported me to the manager.

It’s not all of them that are like that some people actually do have a legitimate reason for using them, but I do see a lot of overweight people using them that are just lazy and that’s why they are that big but it’s usually the minority, we just noticed the ones that are using them that really don’t need them

Not something that I’ve seen in my country, however, you don’t need a medical reason to use them. You can just use them. They’re pretty fun! My grandfather used to have one and he’d let me have joyrides with it haha.
