There is legit science behind it. But legit science doesn't need to "prove" anything. It doesn't even need to be right. Science is always that way. Science poses more questions. Science helps point the direction of additional science.

The question is, what to do with the information. If there MIGHT be a cause and effect, what should be done about it? Certainly more research should be done. It's legit enough that it shouldn't be ignored. And it HASN'T been ignored.

What was done in the case of Tylenol was to issue a warning. That's it. It basically says to not go gulping down tons of Tylenol. It's a precaution - the same type of precaution that's attached to pretty much every drug. People shouldn't gulp down Tylenol for other reasons. But some people do anyway. So it needs to be emphasized more because too many people ignore the current warnings.

Health agencies around the world have looked into it. They didn't simply write it off as pseudoscience. There was at least enough evidence that they spent time considering it. Regardless of whether they mandated additional warnings or not, they all had wording such as "when taken in recommended doses". But what should be done when people DON'T take recommended doses? Are stronger warnings in order?

The key word is "can" not "will". Pretty much anything you put in your body has the ability to cause sometype of negative effect. Eating toast can cause cancer but you don't see presidents warning people not to eat toast. As for smoking the dangers are high and well documented yet no country has banned it. You've got to quantify risk, the odd Tylenol won't harm but eating them like M&Ms will. But your liver will pack up long before you have to worry about autism.
