Ladies, have you ever experienced being on your period without bleeding or barely any bleeding?

I finally have an appointment with my OB GYN in one week. This has been going on for at least 6 months, my period starts and lasts for five days but there's very light bleeding or no bleeding at all some days literally just a few drops. I'm only 35 but I worry this might be related to perimenopause and affect my fertility. Never heard of anything similar but would like to hear from someone who has experienced something similar.

I haven't, but our cycle changes as we get closer to menopause so try not to be too worried. I'm glad that you have an appointment with your OB. I'm sure that he or she can provide you with some peace of mind and solutions. :)

I just hope is not perimenopause yet or anything that affects my fertility.

Don't freak yourself until you know from your doctor. Freaking out will only make things worse.

Yes I have and it turned out that I have pcos making my periods more irregular and sometimes I would have light bleeding like you described for a few days.

Thanks for your reply. My periods are still very regular tho is just the flow that has been all over the place. What type of treatment have you done by the way?

You're welcome! I was supposed to be put on the IUD to help but I chose not to do it because I didn't want it to mess with my hormones further. So I just switched to a vegan diet which has helped because last week I had a regular period for the first time in a long time. My period was really heavy this past week. So I guess diet is key.

I have a pretty well balanced diet and haven't changed anything the past year. I do have a non hormonal IUD tho (copper IUD) got it inserted nearly three years ago. Just want this doctor's appointment to come sooner than later.

Hopefully when you go you will get a good diagnosis for what it may be. You may have pcos and if so you may have to make changes to your diet. Not saying you have to go vegan but you may have to make some changes. Like going Mediterranean or vegetarian. This has helped my best friend as well with her periods. She has gone vegetarian and that helped a lot.

I do have a Mediterranean diet tho and barely consume animal products. Isn't PCOS linked to painful periods? I used to have excruciating period cramps up until I turned 30 yo I haven't had period cramps in five years now.

Oh ok. Then you're probably fine then. But yes PCOS can cause very painful periods along with heavy bleeding.

I have barely bled before but then I have had some periods where the blood wouldn't stop

I have always had heavy bleeding and cramps but I didn't have irregular periods until 1 was around 26.

no, not for my cycles being off, but i have to for my mental health just to be functional bc that was the problem

it happened way more to me as a teenager than adult. are you thinking of seeing someone about it
