This is NOT just for seniors. My son has had sepsis 2 times. First at age 17, the second time last year at age 47.
If you are ever in a situation where you are caring for a person who is sick or just had surgery, you need to know the symptoms of Sepsis because two hours can make a difference between life and death.

My mom almost died from sepsis. She was recovering from a stroke at the time and they figure she developed pneumonia but didn't have any symptoms. A prolonged infection can eventually turn into sepsis. In one day she went from being able to get up on her own, with a walker and walk, to not even being able to sit up. She didn't have a fever, and all her vitals were normal but she was extremely weak and completely out of it. She wasn't sure where she was, and kept asking when her grandkids were coming for Christmas, it was July! I ended up calling rescue. She spent 20 days in the hospital and a month doing inpatient therapy. She never fully recovered (it's been two years) but does alright.

I'm so glad that you called Rescue because you knew she wasn't acting normal and declined very rapidly.
My hope is that other people will watch the video and move lives will be saved just by knowing the Symptoms of Sepsis and not ignoring the person or deciding to wait until the next day to see if they are better - which is what a lot of people do. Hours count when it comes to Sepsis taking off like a rocket 🚀 through out the entire body.
I believe that if a person knows that someone is very sick and needing a prompt response and they ignore the person and they die because someone let them die that that is elder abuse and a crime and the person should be lawfully punished.

That's the thing, people see their elderly loved one not feeling well and think, "It's just the flu" or "she's just tired", "has a cold"... all of which can turn catastrophic for an older person within hours, even minutes. Serious illness can hide itself with few symptoms, it's OUR responsibility to realize something isn't right.
It was actually my wife that realized she wasn't acting normal. She called me and I called rescue right away. It's funny, because when they got there, I was apologizing for calling, because I didn't think it was that serious but I told them, I called because she was so weak, I didn't think I'd be able to get her in my vehicle to take her to the hospital! The one paramedic looked at me and said, "you absolutely did the right thing! Trying yourself could make her "crash out", depending on what's wrong with her. The last thing you wanna do, is make things worse." Props to them amazing people also!

You did do the right thing calling rescue and I think the video even said don't waste time taking them to the hospital 🏥 but to call rescue right away.
I only wish more people took this horrible killer more seriously and don't just right it off as nothing. It's because they don't want to be bothered and they are lazy in my opinion.

Very informative! Excellent, @sage2021 As someone in the medical field, I see the absolute lack of urgency, of mainly "caretakers", on a weekly basis. Bed ulcers, infected teeth, pneumonia (with few symptoms), a constant cough... all of which should require some type of medical intervention for older folks.

And yes, age doesn't matter, I have seen a 15 year old girl get admitted with septic SHOCK, from filing/cleaning her finger nails and getting a small cut under her middle nail. Within two hours, she went from feeling "unwell", to barely responsive when she was brought in.

I believe even health professionals would take away something good from watching this video. It doesn't hurt to watch a recap of things they learned long ago. It's like a little refresher course.
I'm so glad that you are acutely a more effective health provider because someone has to keep an eye on the patients.
I'm so glad that you are there for them and taking your job seriously. There aren't enough people like you in the medical profession. God bless you!

If I can give a suggestion, we had a patient get medevaced yesterday for Tetanus! I'm sure you know what that is but my generation gets vaccinated throughout school and stops getting vaccinated on their way out! I PLEAD! IF you don't want a flu shot, a whooping cough shot... at least get a tetanus shot! The doctor on call said it was the first tetanus infection he's seen in 4 years. Tetanus can be deadly. I am wondering how he's doing...

Remember the saying "See something - say something"? Well, that's what I am doing by putting up these videos. Even if it saves 1 life somewhere down the road, then it's worth it to spend my time sharing them.

I don't know why members are so turned off to watching health videos when all of us have health as human beings and sometimes things go wrong with our bodies. Don't people even care about that! Probably not. At least not until they are faced with an emergency situation when they least expect it to happen.
I have helped countless people and even saved some people's lives while on this planet. The people were so greatful that I was there in their time of need and I was glad I was too!🙂

I didn't know anything about sepsis so I learned a lot. Thank you. If my parents or grandparents get sick now I'm sure this will be in the back of my mind and I will keep an extra eye on them. I had no idea it worked like that. It's amazing what our own systems can do.

The thing about Sepsis is that it's fast!! The person can act fine hours before and then BAM! Suddenly they don't know where they are, who you are and they can get very aggressive. Enen without a fever! 🥵
Luckily my son was already in the hospital 🏥 both times he came down with it and the medical staff knew the symptoms and saved him. I thank God for that, and the medical staff ⚕️ of course.

I had pretty much those symptoms when I had my first heart attack. When things like that happen you get to the hospital.
