Probably a few factors such as obesity, underlying health problems, contraception, hormones in our food etc but the biggest factor is age.
IVF and surrogate are usually reserved older women who can't get pregnant naturally. Sperm donners for men who are firing blanks.
A thing a lot of women are doing that can't get pregnant due to the husband's problems and have probably been a case historically is actual conception rather than artifical conception. Basically she cheats with or without (usually without) the knowledge of her husband with a random stranger to get pregnant. The band Heart have a mega hit where the woman does exactly that. Lesbians have been known to do this too, a woman i got pregnant invited me to threesomes with her girlfriend. The reason they do this is because IVF, sperm donation and fertility drugs are expensive. Surrogacy can be expensive and even if the surrogate does it for free there are all sorts of legal complications and its difficult to find a surrogate.
People used to get married at younger age in the past, the fertility is falling with age.

Poisons and plastics in our food and water for decades causes infertility. With 8 billion people on Earth, it's time to slow down the birth rate, not speed it up with artificial fertility treatments. Adopt a child who's already here and who needs good parents.
More couples are turning to IVF, sperm/egg donation, and surrogacy because the underlying causes of infertility are increasing, not because people suddenly prefer medical options.

People marry later and later in life, statistically this will mean that the chances of infertility increase. Especially women past their 'most fertile' period after their mid-thirties, men a bit later.
People also marry less, and non-heteronormative relationships become more and more standard. Most men couples will have a higher hurdle to take to become parent, only partly compensated by girl couples that have double the amount of wombs, and often little trouble finding (buying) sperm.
In addition, the environment becomes more and more toxic, and (mainly men's) fertility goes down the drain.
Because they struggle with infertility! ”Natural sex” doesn’t work. They tried that and they didn’t get pregnant or have a baby from that. That’s the whole issue and why they need to turn to ivf etc.
There could be a lot of reasons. Biological, stress, the food we eat. I’m not a doctor or a medical professional but there’s probably a reason.
Infertility in increasing because people are waiting to they’re damn near senior citizens to become married. if you wait till you 38 to start looking for somebody to marry that IVF and surrogacy
I think it's because these days men and women focus more on career in the early and late 20s resulting in making it harder to produce kids due to age
Poor diets, mirco plastics, pesticides and herbicides, hormones in meat etc.
I prefer adopting a child if I'm not able to have a baby naturally
There must be some environmental factor. My wife and I had the opposite problem.
