We're planning an above ground pool for installation next spring. Our deck sits around 3' above grade, so we're planning on extending the deck to meet the pool, with a step up so the deck along the pool is at the same height as the edge of the pool making it function more similarly to an in-ground pool.

Inground in our apartment complex (community pool) and the Mediterranean sea about 300 yards from our doorstep. Best of both worlds.

We have told both our children that when they're a little older and have learnt to swim proficiently, we might well consider having either an indoor pool, or one within our grounds.
