By running headfirst into the pain that happens when i catch myself mid compulsive thoughts and actions and force stop them. If i welcome the vague "pain" of their resistance and feel it, then my body physically reacts to an emotion, sometimes it happens to be pride that i tried so hard to avoid feeling and sometimes neglect and abuse, i feel it as long as it has fuel to be felt for, and see a memory that i haven't thought about in 15 years when the feeling was deemed forbidden. Turns out, the compulsive thoughts and actions were just a socially and "morally" acceptable coverup to run away from repressed feelings. I tell myself that i am safe to feel it all, anger, fear, helplessness, abandonment, and then the feeling peaks for a few seconds and dissolves, i find out that despite me living my whole life believing that i am incapable of feeling anger, fear, helplessness, abandonment, in reality my baseline had a steady presence of them all no matter how much i brainwashed myself that i am the opposite of it all. The most painful part is that our minds are non-local and until we quit repressing it, our shadow will keep confronting us from without, the external world will really be repeating the same abuses that call for you to feel the feeling that you repress, but most everyone is so hard-headed that we just double down on the repression, "not my first time". Especially as every radio station injects poison with songs like "believer" that talks about "mastering" the pain, that is exactly what causes the problem, an inflated ego. And, as the singer brainwashed millions of people to use pain to harden the ego, so too parents with this worldview subconsciously no matter how hard they try to avoid it, are guaranteed to hurt their children and accidentally brainwash them to treat pain like a badge of honor and avoid grief, then tell them to be humble too, which is even more repression on top. Which causes physical and mental illness if you haven't noticed. ㅤ

Couldn't tell you. Thankfully, I've never had either, unless you wanna call collecting records an addiction. When I got to a certain point about 15 years ago, I just decided to stop, for the most part, because I was running out of room to keep them. I still buy records but only very rarely, now and only if it's something I need for the collection. I just heard The Beatles' "Rubber Soul" boxed set is coming out, so. If I can afford it, I'll grab a copy, as long as it has stuff on it I don't already have. The last thing I bought about 2 months ago was a small collection of King Crimson albums I didn't already have because they were on sale really cheap and the new Ary Of Noise album I'd been looking at for several months. Before that, I think it was the new Kula Shaker album in Jan. and The Beatles' Anthology 4, before that, I don't even know!! It might've been the "Revolver" boxed set a couple years ago.
If I had a much bigger place and loads of cash, I'd go back to collecting like I did before but, maybe not QUITE as heavily!! Age is a factor, too.

Thankfully, I don't have any addictions, but yes, I think a lot, and that wears me down.

Alcoholics Anonymous; twelve steps programs are the way to go for addiction issues. Their record for sustained recovery surpasses those of all other programs combined.
I’m not a fan of psychotherapy. It’s a soft “science” and I know people who had their “confidentiality” badly breached. The entire field is wildly leftist. So if you’re a man or if your sociopolitical position is right of center at all, you can fairly expect to be taken advantage of or flat out abused. I wouldn’t trust a therapist unless a very close friend or relative recommended them and assured me that they were trustworthy.
Psychiatry can be helpful for extreme cases that require medication, but for everything else there are self help books and videos. You can join support groups too. That’s essentially what twelve-step programs are. You can also talk to someone from church.

Recovery can be different for everyone, but seeking help was an important step for me. I learned that trying to handle everything alone was making things harder. Counselling, a structured routine, supportive people, and professional guidance helped me understand my triggers and build healthier habits. For anyone considering a nasha mukti kendra in Banur, I would suggest researching the centre carefully and choosing a supportive environment with qualified professionals and appropriate aftercare.

I constantly struggle mentally - most people around are just too dumb.

My 'addictions' are not a concern of others: cigarettes, basically.

I feel no need to ''break through" anything.

    This makes the 'how' a no-brainer :D

I'm still struggling with my addiction, but I find that envisioning the life I want to live helps, because I know to achieve that life, I can't be addicted. If you have a dream or goals, it really does help if you envision it.

It sucks. We all struggle with issues. I cope with stress by going for a morning run, or a lap swim in the winter. I also try to avoid reading too much news as it sucks on what the usa is going through with our leadership is a bummer

Addiction can only be defeated in one way. You have to learn to HATE whatever it is you're addicted to. As long as you are defending it to ANY capacity whatsoever, you will not overcome it
