I’m in this cycle and I don't know how to quit
You need to be aware of the addiction and accept it first. Accept that you are addicted and that it's affecting you negtively and then it mostly comes down to willpower. Once your brain is used to a certain habit it more easily triggers those neurons again it wants to go down the same path so you have to fight against it and constantly be aware that your brain wants to return to that place but stop it from doing it. And then you just have to hold out until the path that used to be so well travelled fades in your brain and it won't be as hard anymore. With certain addictions you'll need help though.

I broke mine by myself, the way I did it is by stopping what I was addicted too, I know this sounds like a big duh but it was with the mentality of whatever it is, don't grab that shit, so instead of smoking I'd pop a gum and eventually it got easier to the point I have full control.
Depends on what kind of addiction? Are we talking alcohol/drugs? If that’s what you’re struggling with, I think rehab would be the best solution for you.

There's no one-size-fits-all approach. Some people break it in increments, others are able to quit cold turkey with the right motivation, others need therapy. It depends on how thoroughly the person is addicted.
when I gave up drinking I told everyone that I was going to stop drinking. That way there would be a big element of shame if I couldn't do it.
You have an unfulfilled need that you are substituting with addiction.
So find out that need, and satisfy it instead.
