Overcoming addiction can be a difficult and complex process, but things you can do is to acknowledge the problem so you are at least aware about it as your first step. It can be difficult to admit that you have an addiction, but it is an important step in the recovery process.

You can also connect yourself with supportive friends and family that can be crucial of the recovery process.

Besides, taking care of your physical and mental health is important during the recovery process. Eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and practicing stress-reduction techniques can all help.

Make sure you are setting goals. It is not an overnight progress. Just as if you are trying to get rid of belly fat. and tracking your progress can help you stay motivated and focused on your recovery.

Remember that overcoming addiction is a process, and it may take time and effort to achieve long-term recovery. It is important to be patient, persistent, and to seek help when needed.

    Best of luck✌🏿

Or, by any chance, have you tried to re-connect with older friends? It could help also... even by a lot.

One big step is to remain realistic, and remain positive. Most people will end up relapsing into use several times while trying to break an addiction. And willpower is a resource to be saved and spent, and more a habit to be cultivated. Having a good support group who won't enable you, cutting out the people who will or will expose you to it, exercise and healthy diet changes, counselling to help resolve traumas that have pushed you to use, life changes to get rid of the sources of stress that pushed you to use, learning and practicing mental hygiene and self-awareness, and not falling into the trap of extremes (binging a hobby or pursuit to try and replace the addiction). The last point, you want to create a broad set of hobbies and interests to pursue. Also if you live a very unscheduled life, making and keeping to a schedule can really help as well.

I find when I meditate on faith and also on my life purpose which changes when I switch jobs or classes, the grip of wrong desires weakens until I'm released. As an example, I used to be obsessed with the black magic song which was toxic since it's about mind control, but I got over my obsession by focusing on my religion and my school work and my goals.

Two ways, and use both simultaneously. A third if the addiction is very serious.

First, find a substitute. The caution here is that the substitute shouldn't become the next addiction. So a bad example would be to quit smoking by eating potato chips. The health disadvantages of the chips make it not a great substitute for the smoking.

Second, figure out what the addiction really is and whether it's chemical, emotional, or something else. Identifying the root of it helps to identify solutions.

But, finally, in many cases and with many addictions you need help. It can be as simple as a parent or sibling, or a friend, or professional counseling/therapy/intervention or something in between like a church or teacher. But asking for help isn't weak or a sign of failure -- the opposite in fact.

Just like with obesity or fat (barring certain exceptions), all you have to do is eat less every week or in your case, just slowly reduce the consumption of whatever you’re addicted to. Eventually, the body and mind will begin to adjust to the new reality. The catch is having the willpower to keep reminding yourself to stick to the plan until your addiction no longer is a problem and not less outside forces (stress for example) push you back into that addiction.

The easiest way would be to just remove it from your life. But, then what do you do to fill that void.

For example, I'm doing my best to swear off porn, and strip clubs. Waste of money, for both, and I think I've become desensitized to real life women, so, I'm doing my best to try and get away from both. Problem is, how do i fill that void, thats left?

Sure. The trick is don't take things personal and get angry especially with people who are perfectly good stranger's. Addictions are caused by personal anger leading to frustration towards others.

It's a process and a habit. Stop doing it and replace it for something healthier.

Flagellate - to whip. From the Latin word Flagrum, which means whip.

Off the wagon - when you relapse into your addiction.

The definitions I’m serious about, but joking about actually doing this.
