Why does alcohol make me feel sad now instead of happy when I drink?

I normally drink when I am sad.
It used to make me happy but now I am a sad drunk.

Alcohol enhances your mood. If you’re sad, you’ll become sadder. If you’re happy, you’ll become happier. It also enhances your response to triggers. So if you’re trying to cheer up, try some standup comedy, a comedy movie or series.
If you don’t want to be a sad drunk, don’t drink when you’re sad.
