I've had to make peace with it. It's a part of me for better or worse. I can't escape it. Just as there is much light in me there is much darkness in me as well as there is for everyone else on this planet. We all have to learn how to manage it and not let the darkness consume us no matter what form of darkness that may be.

Mine was depression. I've learned to combat it and stabilize it through music, therapy, and being around loved ones. I know there will be days where the darkness will try to prevail, but the important thing is knowing that I have these tools to keep it at bay.

I’ve learned not to hate it…
Some of my darker parts came from things I had to survive, so I try to understand them instead of being ashamed of them.

Currently, I don't have much choice when it comes to that kind of feelings.
If some people would be more kind and reasonable... then I would have much more choice.
