Is there biological evidence that children feel joy more intensely than adults?

When I was a child, my happiness at ordinary things was intense beyond belief, things like marbles, plastic mermaid bags, pink lunch boxes, filled me with insurmountable joy beyond all joy. Now as an adult, I find many of those joys are weak or non-existent, but I do notice God restoring my childhood joy lately. I recently became obsessed with tomagotchis which was a game I liked as a child.
