Why generally are humans happier when they are a child and why not so happy when they become an adult?

Little to worry about, less responsibility, less problems, good health. Like I'm 18 but no one i love in my world has really passed on. There's been no real hurt or drama yet, no sickness or cancers in my family, I'm in good health happily married with a child living a good life, I'm sure as I look back i will view this as a golden time before things got maybe harder or less happy.

Not worn down by life. I taught HS. Those kids were VITALITY!! My oldest classes are in their mid 30s and the ones I'm still in contact with have learned that "Everybody has a plan til they get punched in the face".

Happiness is undefined?

If you mean that happiness is tranquillity I would reconsider and look at childhood again, considering how much time any child spends in sadness/anger/frustration.

When you're an adult you start having too many responsibilities. You have to work. You have to pay bills and taxes. If you commit a crime you get a sticter punishment.

If that is the case, I am guessing that it's because have no responsibilities yet. Life is still on Easy mode.
