I've always suspected there was something a bit off with me but was much younger and couldn't figure it out. It was more than just shyness. I was having issues making friends and whenever I would initiate topics of interest (food recipes, description of plants, animals, Albert Einstein's theories, my points on why god doesn't exist or the natural putrefaction process after death) either my classmates would find me boring after some time or I would be ostracized and bullied. I had a girl in 8th grade once telling me ''You started out good but then you said and did stupid things, you're stupid''. I would start crying upon getting home, not knowing what I did wrong if we were having a great time before.
I found myself some tolerant people during my HS years (no more insults nor getting bullied) and a couple told me I'm unique and special.
I took an assessment test online and it did said the results indicated autism spectrum. So not so long ago, I took a personal assessment with two different doctors. Both said autism level 1. Needless to say I'm having a hard time accepting this reality. There is no cure for it. I'll never be neurotypical like most people. It's going to take time for me to assimiliate all this. I'm in the denial, shock stage at this moment. It took too long for me to get a diagnosis. I'll be 30 soon and I'm still childless, no luck in the love department. Is it normal to feel depressed?

At least you have a better explanation and hopefully there is some relief from it, but if relationships are a priority for you, it’s normal to feel depressed about the lack of one.
yeah, it all came late in my life. I'll always wonder if my social skills would've improved if my parents had been aware early on and gotten me the help I needed back then, when I wanted to make more friends.
Because you didn't get answers, help or understanding for 28 years
Indeed. I'll always wonder how my social life would've been if my parents would've gotten me the help I needed during my early years when my brain was still developing and I wanted to have more friends back then. Perhaps I wouldn't have gotten treated poorly by my classmates during my grade and middle school years. Maybe I would've met more people like me and made friends early on. Maybe I would've had a boyfriend, then be married with kids by now.
It's like this late diagnosis stunt my social development.
