I’m researching natural and lifestyle-based ways to support mental health and would like to understand what approaches may actually help with depression.
Some areas I’m interested in include:
Regular exercise and physical activity
Better sleep and a consistent sleep schedule
Balanced nutrition and adequate nutrients
Stress management and relaxation techniques
Social connection and emotional support
The relationship between thyroid health and depression
The gut-brain connection and mental health
Whether functional medicine can complement conventional depression care
I’m especially interested in practical approaches that can be incorporated into everyday life. I’d also like to understand when professional mental-health care or medication may be appropriate.

Most of the stuff you mentioned is the bare minimum people should be incorporating for a healthy happy lifestyle. A good diet and exercise are their own reward. Getting enough quality sleep for your body is smart for anyone. Stress management is something everyone should be actively practicing. Social connections are nice unless they become a boat anchor. Cut those people loose.
These are all good whole person considerations. But ultimately, we need to get to the route of why people are depressed with humanistic talking therapies or some kind of personal spiritual self -examination. There are deep reasons why people are the way they are, and why they are depressed.
You kind of answered your own question but I would just add music on there. Music therapy goes a long way.
Thanks for answering your own question
