What do you all think of ultimate frisbee?

What do you all think of ultimate frisbee? What are some stereotypes associated with it? I heard it is a "hippie" activity

It used to be considered a hippie sport, but since there are hardly any real hippies anymore, it's morphed into a sport played a lot by small cliques of often ostracized groups: bible studies, computer/english majors (traditional nerd types) and stoners (arguably related to being hippies). When I played in college there were other players too, like some soccer and football players as well as track and field athletes. However, the core group of players fell into those categories I listed above.

Regardless of who is playing, it's a really fun game and most players are very non-judgmental regardless of which types of players there are.

i used to play it all the time when I was younger and was getting good at it but just stopped playing. I think its really fun probably because I enjoy running but I played it not too long ago and every time someone passed me the frisbee I couldn't catch it! very frustrating, I hate letting my teammates down in any sport...

I love ultimate frisbee! I don't think any stereotypes are associated with it, its a game anybody can enjoy. My brother is far from being athletic and he used to be judged as goth and he enjoys ultimate frisbee almost more than I do. I don't see it as being a hippie activity, If it is in anyway I can see how it could be from where I'm from with all the river rats during the summer...

I played it twice ever and its really fricken hard! I don't think people give it enough credit. I know in my town we have a park/course and its pretty popular at the high school. I don't think anyone thinks of it as hippie-ish... but a lot of people supposedly do go to that park to smoke pot a lot.

I actually didn't know that it used to be called a hippie activity, because my friends and I play it all the time, and a few of those friends are pretty anti-hippie. I think it's more of a "nerd" game, because so many tech/science/liberal arts schools have teams that play it competitively.
