Piles of trash up to the knee and a horrible smell?

My boyfriend's house looks like something from an episode of Hoarders. That is the only way I can describe how terrible it is. Bugs everywhere (though you can't see them unless you scrap away the junk), several cats (whose litter boxes I caught a glimpse of once and they terrified me), a disgusting smell everywhere, and their are hardly even paths through the junk to walk. I can't seem to get in without tripping. I was raised by a mother who is tidy and tried to get used to hanging out at his house, but just couldn't. After trying to avoid going by asking to hang out other places, my boyfriend called me on it. Now he is upset with me for not wanting to spend time at his home. He has offered to clean his room up, but I still can't seem to make myself want to go back. Is it that wrong of me to just want to hang out somewhere else?

How long have you been dating him? He can't be serious by expecting you to want to feel comfortable in a funky ass house. Does he live by himself? he has a lot of nerve getting mad at you for avoiding places infested with bugs, junk and cats crawling around everywhere. Its great that he's offered to clean his room up, that's a good start I guess. most people living like that would be embarrassed of their surroundings, he has no shame

He lives with his parents. (only 19) He seemed embarrassed the first time he took me to his house, but hasn't since.

I remember seeing an episode where there were 5, literally flat, cats that were squashed by the gratuitous amount of crap the person was hoarding. It was the single most vile thing I think I've ever seen.

Thank you @.@ And I doubt their are dead cats. Not as bad as that specific episode. But I can't be sure. Their are plenty of places they could be.

I would have given serious thought to not. I gave some serious thought to where on earth our relationship could go the first time I saw his house. . . and still am.

U two sound like are very different. And why are you dating? Where do you think this will lead?

We are, but in ways other than this. He says its his parents, not him. I doubt that, because of other problems, I'll ever find out if he is right. Right now I'm just waiting it out through the holidays to see how things go.

If his parents are like that, most likely he is too. Judging by his room I'd say most def.
