Beginner, what type of long board should I get?

My friend got my into long boarding and I've decided I want to buy my own. But I have no idea what type, size length width etc. I should buy.

I've done some research online and sector 9's seem to come up frequently, however I've also heard they loose flex quickly and break quite easily. Krackedskulls has also come up. Apex boards according to YouTube look pretty cool link

So yeah I'm a beginner but I'm willing to spend a lot of money on a good board, has anyone got any ideas?

I have a sector 9, got it off craigslist for $20 in new condition, I suggest getting something cheap you don't mind getting beat up... and if you are new at it you may not be as passionate as you though and it could just sit in your garage, lol, so get something cheap to start off, mine is a long, cruiser type board, it is really fast going down hill, it is fun but I'd prefer something shorter like the old ones from the 80's. Actually a vintage board is what I'm looking for, you can find them on ebay.
