What does it mean when someone has thick saliva?

Mine is watery but I've seen some people with very thick saliva that's stringy. It's kind gross looking. No offense to thick saliva people. You guys may think thin saliva is gross.

Everybody has thin salvia (for the most part), but somethings can cause it to thicken. Having low oxygen levels can cause your mouth to dry up (this will usually only occure during strenuous physcial activity), or certain desies and just being dehydrated.

That sounds like it would suck. Anyways it could be a lot of things. Dehydration, diabetes, high blood pressure, even cancer. There's other disease that affect the salivary glands that it could be as well. Also a lot of drugs have this side effect.

Saliva is normally thin, but sometimes mucous can mix with it, making it seem thicker. Mucous is stringy because of the polymer strands in it.
