Vegetarian or non-vegetarian?

Which of the two is a healthier diet ? Is animal food better than plant food or its the other way round ?

they say everything in moderation is best for you...and with this question, its definitely true! non-veg is more healthy, because you need proteins and amino acids that contribute to everyday cell and molecular processes, and being a vegetarian doesn't provide all that. I took nutrition one semester and my professor said If you're vegan or vegetarian by choice, you need to take A LOTTT of vitamin supplements, expecally iron and vitamin b, to make up for the protein you're not eating. And that can be more costly and sometmes vitamins will have chemicals that can cause bad reactions or harm to your body. I say, stick to being natural and stay away from pills. Eat some meat in moderations. Its part of life, all animals do it were animals too. You don't have to eat red meat, if you want to be healthy, stick to lean meats like grilled chicken, turkey, eggwhites, and salmon or other types of fish...salmon has omega 3 and 6 which is good for you and lowers cholesterol...

The notion that being a vegetarian is not healthy is complete bullsh*t. People who say this have no idea what they are talking about. I have been a vegetarian for 3 years and I have never been healthier. What people don't understand is that you get much of the protein and fiber you need from bread and nuts. You don't need to eat meat at every meal. In fact that is darn right unhealthy! Now if you are a vegetarian that only eats chips and cookies then yea that is unhealthy. BUT if you eat a good balanced diet you can live a full healthy life without meat. In fact some research shows that vegetarians live longer. I don't think that it is wrong to eat meat every now and then but I choose not to for moral reasons.

Very correct, vegetarian is a healthier diet. Meat eaters are known to suffer from a lot more diseases than plant food eaters.

Non-vegetarian. Vegetarians have a very unhealthy diet and they don't get enough Iron, vitamins, and COMPLETE proteins (proteins with all of the essential amino acids). For instance, you don't hear about omnivores getting iron-deficiency anemia do you? Also, just look at vegetarian people's skin, it's usually wrinkly and saggy (unless they are really thin)...and how many body builders do you know of that are vegetarians?

You need a balance of animal and plants in your diet; it's not that one is better than the other because they are both essential for a healthy diet

The simple fact is that if you do choose to pursue a vegetarian diet, there are supplements you have to take regularly to make up for the nutrients you're missing by not eating meat. That fact speaks for itself, in my opinion.

Also, human beings were designed by nature to be omnivores. You can see it our teeth. Animals that are pure herbivores and pure carnivores have different types of teeth and our teeth combine traits from both, indicating we were intended by whatever god you believe in to eat both meat and plants.

Yeah, but if you see human intestines then you might say we are designed by nature to be herbivores. Usually, meat eaters have longer intestines to digest food but humans have smaller.

a little meat and/or animal protein is ideal, if you're otherwise eating lots of fruits, vegetables grains, and legumes.

too much meat and animal proteins contributes to many, many health problems -- including cancers.

i think that most people need *less* meat in their diets, and *more* plants.

We are omnivores and need meat as well as fruits and veggies. The trick is to not eat too much of the hormone pumped crap. I prefer eating elk and deer meat. Reason being? It's the leanest out there and is all natural (no chemicals). My family hunts but not for game. They use as much of the animal as possible.
