Are you a Vegetarian or Non-vegetarian?

I was vegetarian during Lockdown. However when my school started again my dad became angry because I was having less protein and it's really important in the time that I'm growing. He knows very well that I need much protein so I can grow tall as it is my spurt growth period now. It was manageable during Lockdown but I was getting more exhausted easily during school days according to him so he said me to continue non veg again to at least maintain whatever weight I have now instead of becoming a skeleton and remain strong.
I'm omnivorus you can say.
Typical Asian Parents
Lol yeah. They make sure you eat well.
Thanks for the MHO!
Present him with facts.
Research every single amino acid and their sources.
Vitamin D2, D3, B12, B6, C, E, calcium, iron, omega 3, 6 and 9, etc, etc.
Look into bioavailability, substances that increase uptake and so one and so forth.
Document your needs and every dish that meets them that you make.
He can't argue against facts.
If he's right about you skipping meals then he's right about you not being ready for a vegan diet.
It requires disipline.
While some of the things your body needs is stored for long periods of time (a full B12 storage in your body lasts for months and months if I don't remember wrong).
Others will run out in a single day however...
You might survive just fine without some meals, (there's some advantages to starvation too) you'll also take some damage too.
I could never go without meat.
What is your message to the vegetarians?

I’m vegetarian since I was 15. I made the choice for ethical reasons, I had beliefs that became stronger after reading the book “Why am I vegetarian” by Margherita Hack, an Italian astrophysicist

Here’s the link for description of the book, it really convinced me.
I integrate my diet with fish twice a week to balance for trace elements but apart from that I’m quite strict.
I'm a vegetarian!
I changed my diet at the beginning of the year. And I've managed to lose a lot of weight and improve my overall gut health.
I highly recommend vegan or vegetarian for those who suffer from gut issues or obesity.
I’m a non vegetarian because chicken is cheap and tasty
Cheeper than vegetables?
For sure. A bag of spinach is like $3 and a 10lbs bag of frozen chicken quarters is like $7.50. I still get bananas and potatoes and other vegetables, but I still eat chicken because I can afford it
Good for you man
I'm an omnivore. My view is it's OK to eat meat but some intensive farming practices need to be phased out. We need to get rid of cheap nasty meat and eat better quality meat.
Yup Cheap meat and Musty Vegetables.
I'm vegetarian, I became one when I was five and realised what meat was.
@Horse-girl
Well, in my case I made a compromise with mum.
No meat etc till I was adult, but I'd keep eating fish at least.
Then when I turned 18 I quit fish too, becoming lacto-vegetarian.
Lacto-vegetarians are people who eat vegan food + milk products.
Ovo-vegetarians eat vegan stuff + eggs, lacto-ovo-vegetarians est both eggs and milk as well as vegan food.
Pescatarians include fish.
Flexitarians eat vegan/vegetarian 90% of the time but might on rate occasions include meat.
Raw vegans only eat vegan food that hasn't been boiled, fried etc.
(Dried is okay).
Each of these diets have their advantages and disadvantages.
Non, because I don't want to wind up like the Neanderthals. Even for omnivores, we can eat a HUGE range of foods, and I've seen what happens to vegetarians who have to eat meat; it's not pretty.
I'm lacto-vegetarian myself.
Have been since I was young.
Vegetarian because I don’t think eating meat is very civilized. It’s barbaric. I’m pro vegetarian for the same reason I’m pro life (except in cases of rape or terrible shit like that)
I eat both actually. I don’t just eat meat like a salad to go with it.
I am a vegetarian as I dont support unnecessary harm in any form. I think killing animals for my Taste is unnecessary.
Plans have life too. They feel pain and They even Cry
Plants
How many animals are ground up and killed to grow your vegetables?
Do you have any clue how crops are planted?
@joeldalton I like ya buddy, but your argument on this one is pure trash. Raising cattle has a far worse impact on that piece of land than growing crops, if you’re talking about habitat displacement or some shit like that. Eat meat all you want, it’s your choice, but it does cause more harm and suffering to living things and that’s why many choose to go plant based, not to mention all the cardiovascular benefits.
@Shamalien eat what you want for your health, but don't pretend that a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is 'cruelty free'.
@Shamalien But then don't say things like OP "I think killing animals for my taste is unnecssary". When it's clearly part of the growing process.
@msmissydc any mammal that lives where the crops are being grown is likely to be plowed over.
@joeldalton The point of the veggie lifestyle is to reduce harm where possible. We aren’t going to starve ourselves for the cause. OP’s point stands. We eliminate the unnecessary suffering. I’ve heard your arguments all over the internet and they are trash, just really weak arguments. How do you think animals are fed? All the negatives of agriculture apply to livestock production, but an order of magnitude higher because of the inefficiency of converting grain to meat. It’s okay to be wrong, you’re right all the time about cultural issues, but you didn’t do your research on this one
@joeldalton
Any form of meat needs more material feed to the animal then you get out as actual food.
It varies what ratio that is from about 3x for some fishes to 10x for some of the worst offenders.
Yes, a farm takes up space, and may displace the local animals, but growing food to *feed* said animals takes up *more* space.
And causes suffering for the animals in question, as well as the animals displaced.
So that logic just doesn't hold water, sorry.
@joeldalton we’re talking about killing animals as the main attraction vs killing some animals as collateral damage, which is actually unavoidable, we step on bugs everywhere we go, we aren’t magic, we are just not killing animals unnecessarily. Avoiding causing suffering where possible
@Shamalien and that’s a different argument than the original answer.
@joeldalton not to my eyes. She said she doesn’t support unnecessary harm, not that no harm will be done, we do have to survive after all. She doesn’t kill animals for her taste. She was very specific. You’re usually right about everything…so you must he quite out of habit of admitting you are wrong 😂
@Shamalien lol, ok.
I eat everything
Best of Both worlds
yes!😆
non, because meat is delicious.
I'm omnivorous
Non-vegetarian
