My friend on FB and I are arguing now that baseball season is going. So my poll question is as follows:

What American Baseball team is Number One of the following two teams. This does not refer to the team as much as the ball club, so this is not a popularity question - so PLEASE do not answer the "Popular" answer but which ball club/team is the over all better team.

I'm a west coast guy and could tell you a lot more about the national league, but probably the Yankees. It's a shock the red socks are in fist place. They traded a lot of their talent last year and are rebuilding. The Yankees have had some injuries and will probably make a run when healthy. Damn sports center and the east coast bias or I wouldn't know this. I think the Orioles will probably win that division.

You sure worded this confusing. But I guess you're asking which is the better team currently, as in roster and record? Then obviously the Red Sox

Wrong, the other way. This years team does not matter in the grand scheme. I was talking about the Yankees ballclub, not the team. Granted the team is included as a group entity.

If you were to go by current score, granted the Sox are in first, but that can change daily so to speak, The record from the first Yankee team to the present one is what I am basing this off of. What the club does for it's adoring public. Community.

Well then in that case I would say the Yankees. They have a long history, have won more than any other team, have the most well known players throughout history, a large and loyal fanbase. Not to discredit the sox at all, but the Yankees are far and above any other team in terms of their legacy. The sox would be an obvious second in most of those categories, and you can argue they have more diehard fans, but pre 2000's the team never made significant accomplishments.

I don't follow baseball a whole lot but if I had to pick I would say the Red Sox. The Yankees are just so overrated and their fans are obnoxious (the ones I know anyway).

As for which is the better team, I really couldn't tell you. Like I said, I don't follow it too closely. I might watch a game every now and then but I don't know a lot about either team.

Im from massachusetts and I use to follow baseball religiously because I played in high school and was suppose to play in college. I can honestly say that the yankees are a better franchise don't know about currently tho

The Yankees are certainly the most well known (and the most hated), by a long way - whereas the Red Sox are more "cool". I never really had a favorite team though, even back when I actually watched baseball.
