My boyfriend has gross teeth?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year. He has braces, and his teeth are turning brown/black in the front and they are covered in plaque. I don't understand how his teeth got so bad, because he brushes his teeth everyday. He hasn't been to the dentist in 3 years. I mentioned to him that he needs to go to the dentist, and he says he has to wait a few months until his mom gets the money so he can go (they don't have dental insurance).

I take pride in my teeth and dental hygiene, it's very important to me. I can't imagine breaking up with him for something so petty, but it grosses me out and I don't like kissing him anymore. I have tried to help clean his teeth, but the plaque is too stuck on his teeth. Am I wrong for feeling this way? I would do whatever I had to do to help him get his teeth cleaned.

How does he have braces and he hasn't seen the dentist in 3 years?... When you have braces, you supposed to go weekly to see your dentist, to make sure your teeth are moving in the correct places... And there isn't really a everytime fee when you go to the dentist for braces. Its just a big bill you get when you start with the braces process until its done. But no added fees on that bill...

Does he smoke cig? is that why his teeth are black?... LOL He needs to go for a cleaning.

Anyway no you're not wrong for wanting him to take care of his teeth as issues with them can relate to other underlying issues, like heart disease.

Exactly! I told him that he would have to go to the dentist at least every 3 months to get them tightened. It doesn't make sense to me :P

Does he not get called back for appointments? If he hasn't had the braces looked at for the last 3 years then they are not doing what they're suppose to and may even be doing more harm than good

Please talk to him and encourage him to see a dentist. tbh, I would find it unhygienic
