Why do Americans like Casseroles?

Why do Americans like Casseroles? We didn't have those in Mexico so yeah.

in my opinion because it's a one dish meal that's easy to put together and make, especially since Americans tend to work a lot more than most nations around the world.

Just put it all together (sauce, starch , veggies, protein), put in oven, set timer, do something else, timer goes off, take dish out of oven.

They're also very versatile. Mixing up the starches, sauces, veggies and protein, limitless options.

I think it stems from a combination of laziness and lack of taste. As you know, some people live to eat, others eat to live. (Can anything as heinous as a Tuna Casserale be imagined?)

if i can get away with it... id take the casserole out of their hands and throw it to the ground. i would pick up the broken pieces and throw it everywhere too. i hate baked saucy, creamy food.
but i have to lie about it and say i like it so no one hates me. >:O
but i gotta admit that eggplant lasagna is pretty good. the normal one is too darn cheesy and boring.

I think they got popular because they're easy to transport. You only have to bring the one serving vessel of food to a family gathering or a block party.

Personally I think they're gross and I wouldn't eat that shit if you paid me. Condensed soups and canned green beans and all that shit is disgusting.

Well basically yes. Casseroles are originally from France, so called "french fries" are from Belgium, Hamburgers (as the name suggests) are from Germany, pancakes are a variation of what's been around for ages in Austria, Germany, France and many other countires, and then there are the junk food versions of Itlian, Eastern Asian , and Mexican food, etc. etc.
The only American original food that comes to my mind is Donuts. But even those have been invented by Dutch settlers.

Cause their easy to prepare and a lot of times taste pretty yummy. My favorite casserole is macaroni and cheese.
