A local college is asking me to be the head of their music dept. and says I need a terminal degree. Anybody have any idea what that is?

Doesn't sound like it's gonna be any gig at all! In the first place, why am I getting asked by some company in California if I want a job here about 10 miles away from me? Secondly, I don't have ANY degrees so, if I need one, they won't take me on.
