And why is interacting with your tv set (gaming) deemed less mature by these people than just staring at it? (watching tv).

I personally think its mostly just people who suck at video games that bash people who enjoy them.

Societal expectations. Society creates all kinds of expectations that do not reflect actual norms. From income, to status, to education, to as you just listed forms of entertainment. And it's generally a minority segment of society shouting to others how they need to live.
