Which would you prefer, an RPG which has a powerful expert game engine, or an RPG which is easier to learn and less detail oriented?

I am working on "Hero Maker Simplified" which is similar to an idea I had some months ago. You play as one of four basic classes: Fighter, Thief, Cleric, or Mage.

In this game, you don't gain XP nor learn new spells. You mostly collect potions or very, very slightly better equipment.

I added a Paladin and Ranger class. Last night, I had a weird dream that a party of heroes kept dying on the final boss, but on the 5th try playing that mission, they eventually figured out how to beat him. I guess that's about right. Final Bosses shouldn't be beaten on the first try anyway.
