when my kids were still living at home, we had such nights every Thursday evening... and sometimes on weekends if we could align our plans :D

now I mostly have one or two such nights in the month with my friends :D

I hate Monopoly. I played it plenty as a kid, but it takes so long and normally the losing parties just resign from boredom, in my experience.

Catan and Carcasson I can recommend. Sometimes I play Bridge or Chess.

No, just whenever some family gets together for a b-day or holiday. Only then do we play cards. Dad played a lot of Solitaire, though.
