Is there something you collect? Coins, antiques, cars?

For me, it's analogue photographic equipment. Without realizing it (or in other words, after having spent more than I want to admit), I have ended up with quite a complete set in a specific brand's line up.

Do you collect anything, or do you see it as a waste of time/money, or something that will eventually collect dust?

In the '80s, I collected a lot of space program memorabilia. Some of it is really unique.

I collected U. S. silver proof and mint sets for years.
I went to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington DC and bought some stuff, including a sheet of uncut $2 bills.
When they changed the designs of paper currency, I saved crisp examples of the previous ones.
I have a 1982 Irish decimal coin set and a pre-decimal coin set that includes a silver shilling, florin, half-crown.
I have a 1983 British collector set.
And I have lots of circulated coins from other countries. My grandfather even gave me a purse full of pre-WWII coins from Japan, Nazi Germany and countries around the world.

While in DC, I walked all around the mall and went to places like the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I collected a lot of stuff while I was there.

I went to the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and collected some cool stuff including a book with Olympic event stamps and special, corresponding cancellations.

I collect coins when I was a boy.

Originally I collected foreign coins I received in change, then I progressed to saving home currency, and every year I saved new coins of every value.

I have Canadian relatives and once when they came visiting I was given a Silver Dollar, and it was the prize of my collection.

Nowadays I still have my collection, and I do still keep any interesting coins I receive in my change, but the only coins I collect are like momentos from countries I visit on vacation.

I am not very materialistic, I don’t like to collect much as I don’t like hoarding/clutter, but I do collect 2 things:


Nendoroid Fluffyland figurines. There is currently 4 types that exist, very hard to find as there’s limited stock, and I own 2 of them and am currently waiting on a pre-order for the 4th. I unfortunately missed out on the 3rd even though I had pre-ordered it 1 year in advance. Stock was oversold and I was refunded instead 😢


Jellycat soft toys. I don’t mindlessly collect them, but every now and then I see a new one that I fall in love with. As of now, I own 6 of them. I used to own 13 but felt a need to shrink my collection, to avoid clutter.

It’s hard to find authentic versions of the 3rd one. Many people selling knock offs on Ebay for $300-$400, when the figurine was selling for $125. Not willing to pay such a big price for likely a fake figurine.

Anything music-related, vinyl, CDs, tapes, even old 8-tracks. We have an entire room jam packed full of various kinds of merchandise, and that doesn't include my husband's crazy t-shirt collection that we have to store in a different room. . So much stuff that we may need to move just to house our ever-growing collection.

I think for me its board games and video games. I have a large collection of both and have spent years (and probably a lot of money lol) on them. I still own all the video game systems my family had when my brothers and I were kids as they didn't want them so I have stuff going back to the atari and coleco and now I mostly game on PC and my xbox series x.
